Good morning! How are you doing today? I have been making steady progress with the body of my yoke sweater . I'm a few inches away from the ribbing. I work on this while watching TV. Overall I am very pleased with the sweater and the design but I do not like the neckline. Once it's finished and I put it on, I will do something about the neckline to make it lay flat, most likely picking up stitches and doing a twisted rib for a few rows.  What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you doing today? I've been enjoying the spring time weather (it was a little too warm for me on Saturday, but it was nice enough). Thankfully we are not as warm today and therefore I am not as hot in my house. As you know, I love winter and I love to be cold. I do not like to be hot. My one lonely snowdrop is blooming. I guess when my husband redid the garden bed he disrupted the batch of them. Hopefully this one will multiply over the years. Also the crocuses!! Gah! I am so excited to see them as well. A true sign that spring is heading our way. On Saturday the kids and grandkids came over in the morning to visit and stay for lunch. We were outside sitting on the patio while the grandkids did outside chalk. We all had a really nice time together. On Sunday after church and lunch, my sister invited me to go with her to the local yarn store. I had no plans to buy anything. I came home with a new project bag! I haven't bought a new project bag in over 10 y...

Hello! How are you?  I'm doing great and even better I finished a knitting project earlier this week. My sister gave me this mini skein yarn set for my birthday in November and started this project in January. I LOVED how simple this cowl was to knit. Give me simple and I can knit and watch TV or read a book at the same time.  I did not make the cowl as long as the pattern indicated. Once I did five mini skeins I thought it was long enough. Also, yesterday was chilly enough to wear it before the heat wave hits this week. (yes...a heat wave, into the 70s, ugh). What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you doing today? I've been pretty good overall. Our company left last Wednesday and I put my house back together again within two hours. That might be a record. We miss our daughter and her family, but I am also enjoying the silence and the NOT cooking for a crowd.  Since they left, I've returned to knitting and reading. I've made lots of progress on my yoke sweater  while watching TV in the evening or listening to podcasts. Never fear, I have been working on my other two projects as well while thinking about new projects. That's what knitters do. Since we had a tiny warm up, there was ONE bug in the house so now Holly is on the hunt for future possible bugs in the house. This is her surveilling the family room. Too cute!! On Saturday I walked outside which is a rarity. Because of my severe dry eyes and the scleral lenses, I cannot be outside if there is a wisp of wind. However, I braved up to 8 MPH winds and took my chances. I enjoyed being outs...

Good morning! How are you today? I am doing pretty good and that is exciting after the last two weeks of health challenges. My daughter and her family are leaving today after an unexpected extension of their visit here due to the blizzard in Boston. I am sure they are happy to go home. I have a ton of cleaning to do and putting the house back to the way it was. I haven't knit the past couple of days because of the company and all the cooking I've been doing. Each day my son and his family came over with all of us for dinner. By the time I sit down after they leaave, I'm a zombie and my brain is toast.  Never fear, I took a photo of my current knitting projects. Bottom left is my belle sweater , top middle is my musselburgh hat and bottom right is a delightful cowl that I'm itching to finish so I can wear it before winter passes away. What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you? Thank you so much for the health well wishes, they finally worked! I ended up calling the ENT on call Wednesday night because of the pain and happened to get my own ENT, what luck. She phoned in a high dose of prednisone (again) and double booked me an office visit on Thursday instead of Friday. Once I saw here she ordered antibiotics (again) and on Saturday night during my family party dinner I hosted at my house, I ate pain free after nearly 10 days of painful eating. It was glorious!!(I would not wish this on an enemy) I have another follow up with her on Wednesday morning, she is so very kind. Our daughter, son in law and youngest grandson are visiting over the weekend and unfortunately their flight was cancelled today to go back to Boston because of the blizzard warning. They are here until Wednesday. We have been soaking up a ton of family time together and the cousins are all seeing each other. I have done minimal knitting between not feeling wel...

Good morning! How are you? I completely forgot to take a photo yesterday so you have one in the early morning instead. I haven't knit much this week because of the pain I've been in since my procedure. It hurts to eat and then I sit and wallow in my feelings, lol. The good news is that the right side of my mouth is back to normal, it's the left side that is being stubborn. I have a recheck with the ENT on Friday morning and hope she can do something about it but I doubt it.  When I did knit this week, I did a tiny bit of rows on my scrappy cowl , which is getting to be long! I might just do the length they recommend because I want to block it wide. If I block it wide then I will lose length. Stay tuned.... What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you doing?  Phew! It's been a crazy rough few days. I had my sialendoscopy procedure done on Thursday at the city hospital and I guess it was successful in that they did it. In time I will see if it improves my dry mouth symptoms from Sjogren's disease. Saturday was the worst day, eating was very painful. However, yesterday was improved and I'm hoping it stays that way! I have a recheck with the ENT at the end of the week. Thank you all for the well wishes, I appreciate them.  Above is my belle sweater  and I'm swimming in the stockinette stitches! I love it. I can read a book while knitting which of course is double the fun. The days are getting longer, the birds are singing and the snow is melting away. Spring is around the corner!! How was your week?

Good morning! How are you? Thanks for the well wishes on my upcoming medical procedure (sialendoscopy), I will give you an update next week. I cannot wait to be done and resting and recuperating.  My knitting is pretty much the same. I cycle through three projects every day. Yesterday I worked a bit on the cowl . The pattern calls for lots of yardage and I'm wondering how long I really want this to be. Of course I want to block it wider than it is in the photo so that will end up losing length. It's a good problem to be mulling over. I also have plenty of wool. What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you doing? I'm doing pretty good. I had a great weekend and feel pretty healthy considering the past month of un-wellness. I am having my procedure done this week at the hospital on my salivary glands. I will try to stay healthy and avoid any illnesses since it seems to be THE season of germ sharing.  Have you noticed the light that is abundant in the morning and evening? Also I heard the birds singing when we went grocery shopping last week. What a blessed sign of spring just around the corner. I love winter so much but I don't mine early spring either. I've been knitting up a storm in the evenings. Above is the musselburgh hat that is mindless stockinette stitches. I brought this along at the soccer practice on Saturday (indoors thank goodness).  Also yesterday, I painted some Valentine cards in between loads of laundry. I had fun dabbling in my paints. What have you been up to this week?

Now that I am feeling much better, my knitting time has been increased. Most importantly, my mistakes have decreased. I discovered the worse I feel the more mistakes I make, but I don't know I'm making those mistakes until I feel better. The Belle Sweater  is a joy to knit. I finished the color work a few days ago. Now I'm knitting an inch or so before the sleeves are set aside. I'm excited. There is nothing like stockinette stitch knitting! I can watch tv or read my kindle. Both are entertaining. How are you? What have you been working on this week?

Good morning! How are you today? I am doing much better. I am on another round of antibiotics for a stubborn ear infection but I think this time it is really really working. My fingers are crossed. Let's just say, I'm not thinking about my ear and that is a very good sign. All week last week the daycare was closed due to frigid temperatures so we were the back up to the daycare. Saturday was still busy and we celebrated our grandson's fourth birthday (4!!!!) with family. We had fun seeing everyone, then went to Saturday night Mass. Yesterday was bliss. We stayed home the entire day. Besides doing laundry, I did some knitting and reading. My adult classes start up this week, I'm excited to get back into a learning groove. Also, the sun came out yesterday and we were in the double digits! It's funny when you think of 20 degrees as a heat wave. Since I am a winter lover, I am in my seasonal heaven.

Good morning! How are you doing? We are in the deep freeze and it's so cold that schools are closed which includes the daycare our grandchildren go to each day. We have been babysitting while the parents go to work.  I have been busy knitting many projects. First off is the mystery hat above. My son started knitting this over 10 years ago and never finished it (he had two inches done). When they moved here, he gave me the unfinished hat. I am not making a Ravelry page since I cannot remember the yarn (I think it is old Malabrigo...). However Simple Moss Stitch Hat is the pattern! Of course I gave him back the finished hat. Oh and yes, we have the same knitting gauge, it's genetic! Next up is a cowl started for me! My sister gave me this mini skein set for my birthday and I'm have fun knitting a simple cowl while watching TV. Last but not least, I started another musselburgh hat for me. I love this pattern and how warm the hat is during extreme cold temperatures. Also on...

Good morning from a very snowy place! I love it so much, I know I am the odd one out but it's always a fun day when there's a snow day. Of course, it's fun as long as I have utilities. The whole town and near-by city shut down yesterday while the snow fell. Today I think there's one more inch to arrive then they will be clearing all the main and side roads. I did my laundry and chores yesterday then sat and started two knitting projects, a cowl and as hat both for me. The cowl yarn is a birthday gift from my sister back in November. The hat was an impulse yarn buy this weekend (why not!). My son asked me how much yarn do I have in my closet...um... a lot. This week is my last week off for winter break and my adult classes start up again next Monday. I am excited to get back into seeing my friends and of course learning new things.  How was your weekend? Did you get any snow? I hope all you all are safe and warm in your houses.

Good morning! How are you? My health is improving (no fever, less pain) but I still have symptoms of the sinus infection and am doubtful I'll be cured, sigh. This is week four of the never-ending illness, wish me luck! I honestly didn't start knitting until Sunday or Monday night, and when I did knit I didn't knit for long. However, I am less than five rows to finishing the colorwork of the yoke. After that it is stockinette stitching which to me is wonderful! I can zip along knitting, watch TV or read my kindle.  In my mind, I'd like to start another project but my energy levels are too low. I just think about it instead. I have in mind a cowl with the yarn my sister gave me for my birthday in November. What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you? Are you in the deep freeze like me? Today the temps will feel like 15 degrees below zero by the end of the day. That is quite cold! I like winter and I love snow but I am not a fan of extreme cold. Since posting last Wednesday, my symptoms yet again got worse and I ran a very high fever on Friday. I went to urgent care and was finally given antibiotics which I felt should have been given to me a week ago. Health care is completely nuts these days. However the nurse practitioner was wonderful. After 48 hours of modern medicine I am fever free and  I am starting to feel much better. My whole weekend was lying around wallowing in self pity (I always have enough energy for self pity). My cousins and Aunt gave me flowers which Holly wants to eat so badly. During the day they are on the mantle and at night they go into the stationary tub in the laundry room with the door closed. I don't think she can jump to the mantle but I know cats and they do crazy ...

Good morning to you! How are you doing? I hope you are staying healthy! I have been thoroughly enjoying my sweater knitting , since all I do is sit around and recover from my illness. I am thankful I am well enough to knit. I am so close to finishing the color work of the yoke and then the knitting will really go fast. Endless stockinette knitting is perfect for TV knitting or reading my kindle. I am already thinking of how I might change the neckline design. I might pick up and knit a tiny bit of ribbing to neaten it up. But it's early days, I can decide later. I am feeling better and as you can guess it's not fast enough for me which is another sign I am feeling better. What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you? I have had quite the week. I am battling RSV and it's quite nasty. So I've been sitting around and staring at this view most of my days coughing my head off. I've been reading a ton and knitting just as much. Sometimes I nap and that is nice. I've been to the doctor's twice and not much can be done, sigh. So stay safe and don't catch it!!

Winter Fling Mitts

Image
Good morning! How are you doing today? I finished my sister's birthday mitts ! Overall I liked the way they turned out. She picked the colors and I enjoyed knitting them for her. The mitts ended up being a tiny bit smaller than usual because I accidentally bought sport weight wool instead of DK weight wool. Hopefully they will keep her fingers toasty! What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you doing? I'm good, all of our plans changed for the weekend and we had a ton of free time. I am not complaining at all. I have been knitting up a storm and doodling in journals. I love the lull of January. And even though you are supposed to leave all the Christmas decorations up until the Epiphany, I put everything away on New Year's Eve so I could wake up on January 1st with a tidy looking house.  I finished the Christmas Scarf and have tucked that away for next year. Also I started a sweater for myself! It is in fingering weight wool which is just crazy. I'm sure it will take forever to knit but for now I am thoroughly enjoying the project. And it's for me!
