Saddle Shoulder Love

Image
Gosh, I just love saddle shoulder shaping.  I am on the home stretch of the Seamless Hybrid Sweater .  I have finished one shoulder and I'm half way through the second shoulder.  I have been used Elizabeth Zimmermann's book Knitting without Tears .  When I first started this sweater I read the directions for the seamless hybrid shaping and had a very vague idea of what to do.  So I casted on and decided I will figure it out later.  Well later came a couple of days ago and when you have the actual knitting project right in front of you, it becomes easy as pie.  The hardest part is the math involved, simple though it may be.  I also decided to do the shirt yoke shoulder for the back.  This makes the neck opening slightly more towards the front.  Here is a photo of the back: Here is a picture of the front: And here is a picture of the raglan shaping:

Yarn Along

Almost every Wednesday Ginny hosts a yarn along on her blog Small Things .  It gives us all an opportunity to see what everyone is knitting and reading.  I finally finally finished The Elegance of the Hedgehog .  It is not a very cheerful book and the ending was unusual.  I am glad that I read it and it makes an interesting read.  I now started The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. This book so far is really good!  I hope it stays engaging.  I am working on the Citron Shawl  . It is easy and fun!

Around Us

I was out with Frodo and just loved the winter scenery.  Winter has been my favorite season for as long as I can remember.  I like the white and the cold.  I think Frodo's favorite season is winter as well.  He loves to sit outside on the patio step.  I think when it gets below 20 degrees he makes his sitting time outside a bit shorter than usual. I should be done with the second sleeve of the seamless hybrid sweater  tonight.  That means that I get to knit the body and the sleeves together on one big circular needle, it is what I've been waiting for! I am also working on the citron shawl .  My sister is also knitting this with me.  So it is a mini knit along.  It is a fun pattern and very easy to knit while watching tv as long as it is not an increase row.  Then I need to pay attention.   I had to share the gift my sister sent me!  She made me this cute little bag that holds decorative stitch markers.  It is such a fun print I had to share!  She also gav

I cannot believe it is February!  Time flies as I get older.  I do not know if it is a good thing or a bad thing, but I am trying to enjoy each and every day.  I am still reading the same book.  I am a very slow reader, I also only read right before bed and I frequently fall asleep.  I finished the Calendar Scarf and you can check out some of the pictures in previous posts.  I started the Citron Scarf with my sister in Pittsburgh.  I continue to work on the sleeve of the Seamless Hybrid sweater for my son. Check our Ginny's Blog- Small Things  and see what everyone else is knitting this week!

Simply Simple

Image
I finished another shawl !  The reason I am done so fast is because I ran out of yarn.  To be truthful, I knew when I started the project that I did not have enough but thought "oh well".  It is long enough to wear, it is just missing a lovely lacy edge.  I plan on making The Simple But Not Boring Shawl again!  Here a  few pictures: Don't you think Frodo is in desperate need of a grooming visit?  He goes in two days and will come back smelling pretty!

Sterling Silver Scarf

As promised, I have some photos of the scarf all blocked and beautiful.  I am quite pleased with the scarf.  I soaking just makes the yarn super soft. The first photo is me taking a picture of me!  Quite a chore when you are by yourself.  I highly recommend knitting the Advent Calendar Scarf .  It is well written and the lace knitting was fun.

Finish Line

Well as I was guessing, I ran out of yarn.  I was knitting Day 22 and felt that I would not be able to repeat the 14 row pattern twice.  So I only did one repeat and then knit my final four rows of garter.  Yippee for me!  Here are pictures of day 17 through 22 (well half of 22). I already soaked the scarf this morning and it is currently blocking in the guest bedroom.  It should be dry by tonight.  So hopefully I can post some finished pictures in a day or two.  If you want to see some more beautiful Advent Calendar scarves, check out Girls in Sheep Clothing !
