How Does Your Garden Grow?

This year my husband made two raised beds.  He placed newspaper down after he weedwacked (I think that is a verb!) and then lots and lots of topsoil......yes, we did buy dirt-lots of it!  It has been 10 years since we have had a garden.  At that time, I was the gardener.  I did enjoy it very much but I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (managed perfectly with meds) and gardening is one of those activities that flares my condition.  So I "retired" from gardening.  I have missed fresh vegetables and checking the progress of plants.

Lucky for us my husband has become interested.  So with my knowledge and superior supervising skills (ha ha ha) we have started it up again.  Believe me I will have no problem eating the produce.... We went to a local greenhouse and had a fun time picking out what to plant.  I know we will have too many tomatoes and peppers but still it was fun and we can always give away the produce, right?

Yes, that is a gnome but in its defense it is reading a book so that makes it an okay lawn ornament.  I just love dianthus and this has spread like crazy!

Do you garden?  Got any good tips?

  1. You can never have too many tomatoes! With extra you can make the best sauce. I'll post a recipe if your interested.
A tip? Visit daily and check plants to make sure not 'critters' have set up home.
Enjoy you garden, it does look lovely.

  2. Your garden looks manageable. Definitely the prerequisite for mine! Although sometimes reality loses to my dreams and I get a bit outta control. I agree with Tracey, you can never have too many tomatoes.

*And yes, spinning is definitely the inspiration I needed to get knitting again!

    Blessings, Debbie

  3. Lovely garden! You can never have too many tomatoes or peppers (Chase says make salsa!). Or gnomes. They're rather important to a garden ;)

    Good luck!

  4. Your raised beds are lovely! We have a similar set up...just a couple raised beds with enough space for some peppers and tomatoes. You can always find something to make with those!

  5. "Yes, that is a gnome but in its defense it is reading a book so that makes it an okay lawn ornament."

I LOVE this! Having an irritable day and you just really cheered me up with that sentence. Hilarious!
