Wool Gathering

I have been quite scattered in my thoughts this week.  I have lots of lists floating around my mind of things I would like to accomplish.  Mainly it is Christmas knitting ideas.  Once my shawl is complete, I am thinking of making cowls....unless I change my mind-AGAIN.

What has not helped me is when I went to my local yarn store this past week, I bought more yarn!  I am super excited to make my husband a sweater (not for a surprise gift) and I have been browsing Ravelry looking at patterns.  My only stipulation is that I want the construction top down.  Guess what?  There appears to be little to no top down sweaters in worsted weight yarn.  I did find one great pattern that is aran weight.  So it looks like I might be altering the pattern.

I sat for 30 minutes yesterday thinking and calculating, then took a long break.  I like to sleep on my knitting ideas and problems and sometimes a solution comes to mind by morning.  So this morning besides cowl thinking, maybe mittens? I decided that I AM going to alter the pattern for worsted weight yarn.

The only drawback is that I might be frogging some sweater knitting.....and as everyone knows I am very good at that!!  heh heh heh

I do believe a cold front is heading my way just especially for me so that I can wear my new sweater :)

  1. I hope you find the sweater pattern you are looking for. What color yarn did you purchase? I always love everything you use as you have wonderful taste. I can not wait for this cold front to get here; I am already planning a chili- bon fire for all my children! xx

  2. I'm knitting a worsted top-down sweater called "Mothed" - it's on Ravelry but originated on Knitty, I think. It may not be your style though. It's very plain.

  3. I knitted a sweater for my husband that was bottom up but still knitted seamlessly in the round, I love these kind of patterns because sometimes it takes me longer to get those pesky seams closed that it took me to knit the pieces.
    Have a wonderful day.

  4. Scattered thoughts... I've been having a few of those lately. I'm putting the landing gear down. Hopefully that will set the stage for order! Good luck with the pattern. :)

  5. How funny--my husband's FAVORITE sweater pattern (and over the years he's received quite a few sweaters) is Pure and Simple's Top Down Men's sweater; it's a great fit for him, and I think I made it for the 5th time last winter. It calls for 18st/4", but I've done it in worsted with some minor adjustments and a slightly chunkier 16 st/4". It's really a great pattern...he hasn't had a new one in a year....hmmmm--don't you be an enabler again!!
I'm thinking my Christmas gifts this year might be fingerless mitts/gloves; still mulling that over!
    Happy weekend.

  8. I love, love, love all those fall photos. It looks so beautiful where you live.

I've not yet found a sweater pattern that my husband approves of. I'm excited to see what you come up with; I might just follow in your footsteps.

  9. Love your knitted stuff. That mustard sweater I will admit would not be a color I thought I would choose but you have changed my mind. Love your stitch markers also in previous post. I also am from Pa. Miss it much and often. I am so glad the yarn along allows all of the artist to come together and find blogs we may never of found!

  10. As I see it, frogging a pattern is just a creative way of making it better. ;-)

Can't wait to see your new yarn. Ah... yarn!
