Yarn Talk

It is raining here and it's very very gloomy.  I think it's starting to bother me.  The best way to chase away the rainy day blues is to talk about yarn.  More specifically yarn that I own.  The above photo is the luxurious yarn that I won from Twist &Twine yarns.  Camilla is so talented with colorways so you must check out her website.  I have decided to cast on the Cinnamon Grace shawl.  I wanted a very simple knit so that the yarn colorway could shine!  That little bit of sparkle helps the shine too :)

I bought these three skeins when I was with my sister last weekend.  The yarn is Araucania itata solid.  I've knit with this yarn before and I love how it blocks out and the touch of silk is heavenly.  I'm thinking of a cardigan right now for this yarn but not sure of the pattern yet.  Still thinking.

So today I will be knitting away while the rain continues to fall from the sky.

How do you cope with the rainy day blues?

  3. I noticed now that we are in a rainier part of the world it is strange for us. I find my family wanting to stay inside when it is overcast with a slightest chance of rain. We are used to sunshiny days every day.

  4. Such pretty colors are bound to put a spring in your spirit!!! Rainy days? They are for guiltless knitting, right??? And a good book----and I do like that chocolate idea!

  5. I kind of like the clouds and rain when I don't have to get out in it; otherwise my attitude isn't so cute. To enjoy my rainy days inside, I cuddle up with a mixture of the following: fluffy blanket, a book, some knitting and some coffee and/or tea.
    Love those colorways! Happy knitting!

  7. Rain? What is this rain you speak of as it never visits here anymore!
If it does ever visit again I am reading and taking a nap!
You have such pretty yarns Karen, I'm drooling!

  9. Like you, with lots of knitting if I can get away with it. I have a different colorway of Twist & Twine and I still don't know what to make with it; your shawl choice is a good one!

  10. Since it has just rained here in Denver for two days (which we desperately needed so I won't complain), I worked on SU and sat on the couch yesterday watched my shows off of the DVR and knit to my hearts content.

  12. Love the bright new yarn! Does your sister knit, too? What a fun thing to have in common. Casting on for a shawl sounds nice. I've always wanted one, but I'm not brave enough yet! Hope the sun comes out soon in your part of the country!

  18. Yarn and coffee! As a matter of fact, when the rain was here Monday, I spent a good portion of my mid-morning and afternoon snuggled up on the couch knitting and sipping coffee with Mom.

I really do like your yarn from Twist and Twine! I'm getting out of my blues/greens and am looking for something colorful. Beautiful!

The shawl pattern is neat. It always amazes me how many different shawl patterns there are out there!

  19. Love to settle in with my yarn on those rainy days!! The shawl I just finished was out of the Itata solid and I loved it! I know that Cinnamon Grace is going to be beautiful out of your Twist and Twine prize!
