Weekends

It started with decluttering the pile of magazines, then I thought I'll move these books, then those books and before I knew I was full blown in a job of reorganizing my wooden crate shelves that hold my vintage books, the kids music books and many cookbooks.  It was quite entertaining and I collected quite a bit for the recycling center.  I plan to do some shelves in my bedroom later this week and keep the momentum going.

Today I spent time with two friends and knitted away.  I also lined up a few projects that need to be cast on and done for the holidays.  Dinner was ready when I came home (I will never tire of that!!).  We had lentil soup and some kind of Indian pancake (can't remember the name).  Both were delicious.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of hanging out at a Barnes and Noble.  I inhaled the scent of coffee while I flitted from the magazine area to the the knitting books and then to fiction.  Shopping at a book store could be a whole day event for me!  Now if only we could convince management to get rid of the huge toy section and bring back the comfy chairs...

Frodo is desperate for me to play with him.  As I finish this post he is at my feet with a stuffy staring me down.  So hard to say no to someone as adorable as him.

How was your weekend?

  1. Oh Karen, I need to do the same thing to all of my book shelves, but I just haven't been motivated to start. Good for you in getting things accomplished before the holidays.
I could spend the whole day at a bookstore too, and often do spend at least several hours. There is something about bookstores, thriftstores and yarnstores that really soothes the soul.

  6. I love vintage books. A very big weakness of mine. I was at B & N the other day too. I can get seriously lost in there for a few hours. It's like a mini-vacation.....LOL! Have a great week!

  7. There is the most wonderful bookstore here in Denver called the Tattered Cover. Very easy to spend hours there. When I go with friends we set a timer and meet in the coffee shop after an hour. Otherwise we'd be there all day!

  14. Oh, those books! They're lovely!
I painted our entryway and planted garlic this weekend. Oh, and I knit a ton of tiny animal bodies. I'm still not finished, and I was supposed to have them in the mail today. Oh well… xo

  15. That toy section irks me too! I mean really...you want a toy, go to the toy store...not the book store! Sorry. Pet peeve. I could spend a day there too. And coming home to dinner ready. Wow. I could get used to that!

  16. I could spend days in Barnes and Noble. I bring my Nook, read some books, flip through magazines, get some coffee. Heaven.

I'm not sure how happy I would be with a large toy section in ours. We do have a kids section at the back of the store but it's mostly books. It may have changed though, as I don't have much reason to go back there these days.
