Yarn Along

My knitting is fresh and new!  Just in time for spring, well the calender spring because the weather spring is still winter.  I've cast on a pair of green socks for my husband.  Whenever I'm out and about in yarn stores, I pick up any skein of durable sock yarn for socks.  This brand-trekking-is durable.  It's my favorite brand for him. I don't know how he does it but he is hard on socks. Oh and guess what?  I finished my tea leaves sweater , I love it so :)

I am only knitting small projects until I finish, yes finish this lace shawl.  It has been languishing at the bottom of my knitting bag.  I desperately want to cast on another sweater so what better way to motivate me but to put limits on myself?  Let's see if this works for me.  I'll keep you up to date.

My book.  Well you know I'm partial to Alice Hoffman, so when I saw The Red Garden and quickly scanned the summary on the back I bought it.  It's an unusual book because it is written as a collection of short stories set in one town that spans a few generations.  I'm enjoying it immensely for my nighttime reading.  One chapter and I've got closure.  Her writing is poetic and magical and sometimes weird but in a good way for me.  So if you like short story type of books check this one out.

What are you knitting and reading?

  3. Your Tea Leaves Cardi is beautiful ! It is a knit that is on my list for sure. I too am currently knitting socks and hats, mainly to break up the never ending Leaves of Grass shawl. Love this knit and part me wonders if I just don't want it to end. I admire knitters like yourself that can whip out a pair of socks so quickly and I believe in 34 years I have only made one pair for my husband.....poor guy he pays for my yarn obsession ! Love your blog and keeping up with all your beautiful knits !

  10. What makes the yarn more durable than any other superwash/nylon yarn? I'm still so new to this sock knitting thing. Right now I'm using bits and pieces that I bought at the local yarn yard sale - most I'm not even sure are superwash.

  11. That is the most refreshing green I've seen in awhile. :) I've had the same problem with making socks for hubby. I was told to try Trekking and Regia for durability- let me know how the Trekkng wears. I bought some Regia to try.

  12. I wish I could be as focused with my knitting as you are!! Love the socks color (I do know what you mean about hubbys being hard on socks....I think for mine it's because he wears them in shoes---never clogs). Book looks very 'me'---I must check it out!!! Thanks for the recommendation.

  13. That green is lovely and the needles so tiny. I'm pretty sure they would somehow get lost or broken around here.

  15. Socks in that lovely colour - perfect.
Now that sounds like my kind of book, it may even stop me from turning the pages.
The seasons really have gotten confused - we are still having high temperatures, like mid summer high! Waiting patiently for autumn here.

  16. I have to bribe myself to finish some projects like that, too. ;) I have one right now that I've broken my bribe restriction on twice though. LOL! I'm going to have to get firmer with my restrictions. ;) blessings ~ tanna

  21. Love that color green. It is very spring. I will have to get that yarn for my next pair of socks. Need something durable for the guys in my life... it was really sad to see the few socks I have knit wear out so quickly! Do you have a go-to sock pattern for your guy?
Hoffman is one of the few fiction writers I read. I will have to check this one out.
