Weekends

My weekend was

-having a full house-full of laughter, talking, sharing
-having both kids home at the same time-that is when the house is the loudest
-socializing with friends for their thirtieth wedding anniversary
-gifting the biggest potted fall mum, I was sad it left my kitchen-so so pretty!
-eating bagels
-finishing another knitting project
-strategically stepping over many pairs of shoes at the landing of the stairs (the dumping area)
-watching Frodo be extra wiggly with a full house
-knitting with friends
-saying goodbyes-finding the landing area void of shoes-doing laundry and dishes-making beds-cleaning the house
-a Sunday evening quiet after a walk and back to the two of us

how was your weekend?

  1. Your weekend sounds wonderful Karen. How nice to have both your babies home, all of you together. While I have gotten use to this 'new' way of life, there are so many times I miss having
everyone here, all of us around the dinner table, the flow that made us our family. Oh well, enough of that, today is a beauitful day, I'm off for a run and I hope you are doing something fun.

  2. I had a good weekend too. I know how it is to be an empty nester. Sometimes the house feels so empty, but most of the time I enjoy the quiet. I've posted about my weekend, too, if you'd like to visit my blog.

  3. How nice to have everyone home for a bit! Our weekends are very busy right now with my daughter's soccer (I'm helping to coach, too) and the boys' karate, but we're getting better at making sure we parents take care of ourselves, too, so I had a watercolor class and some longer runs--it's getting difficult to run during the week now with shorter days--and my husband got in a long bike ride.

Sounds like you need to gift yourself with a mum!

  6. Good weekend here as well. :-) Started it off early on Saturday and went walking with a friend. 2 1/2 hours of vigorous walking (and talking) was a great start to the day! Took our youngest to volleyball practice, had a family movie night and then went shopping on Sunday. Good weekend all around. :-)

  7. I believe we found ourselves with many of the same things going on, Karen! We were blessed with the presence of our family from Maine last week, but they left for home on Saturday morning. The quiet is unbelievable. I started catching up on laundry, doing some cleaning and looking through some patterns for some Christmas gifts I want to start on. It was a good (but quiet) weekend!

  11. Sounds lovely. Glad you enjoyed having your kids home...looking forward to having four of my five here in just a few days. :) Our weekend was slow as a few of us are under the weather. And the weather? rainy, windy, and cool. Blessings, ~Lisa

  13. Your weekend sounds like the perfect mix of together time and relaxation. Will we get to see your finished knitting project, or is it a holiday gift? I can't believe tomorrow is October!!!

  16. I think having all the kids home at the same time is well worth navigating the shoe dumping area, cleaning, and laundry. After all the work it sounds like you deserve your own mum!
