A Shawl to Wrap

The shawl could wrap me up and keep me cozy for the colder months ahead but this is a gift (sniff).  I'm happy to report that it is off the needles, blocked, threads buried and photographed.  All that is left is to wrap it up and gift the present to someone special.

Can you believe how dirty my fence is???  I am not in charge of the outdoor upkeep so we'll blame it on my husband okay?  Lucky for me the pretty shawl shines in the photo.

The pattern, Light and Up was an easy pattern maybe a good first pattern to knit a shawl if you are very familiar with the basics of knitting.  For me, this project was my knitting-while-talking project, I always have something like that on the needles, you see, I talk a lot.

here is my project page.

  6. Oh it's gorgeous!!!! I've put it in my Ravelry queue...I have it on good authority (as in I picked it out) that I'm getting a skein some beautiful sky blue, sparkly sock yarn for Christmas. It would look great with this shawl!!!

  11. Gorgeous! I like everything about this shawl: your color and yarn choice, the pattern. Nothing beats a simple, well-constructed knit design for style and wearability.

Now, about that fence: I think the dirt gives it a lovely, antique, rustic look. : )

  12. Heck I never even noticed the fence - your shawl took over the picture entirely. So very pretty. I just love patterns like that.

  14. The color is beautiful, gray and lavender, a perfect mix. The eyelets give it that lovely touch of elegance.

  17. It's beautiful Karen, everything that comes off your needles is always just amazing.
Whoever is on the end of your gift giving list is one lucky person.
PS- I think your new header is just perfect for the season.

  18. Karen, That is beautiful and you always do such a great job. We have a fence that looks a lot like yours. We are thinking about taking the wooden lattice out of ours and replacing it with vinyl--that way only the post and trim would need to be painted. There is always something that needs to be done around the house. We live in an old house that we remodeled over the years and had plumbing problems this morning. I look forward to your next project and I also love to see what you are reading.

  19. That is such an amazing color! I always marvel at people who can work through shawls happily. I can knit a sweater with little complaint but shawls are so rough for me.

  20. So very lovely! And I adore your new header! We had a little taste of fall in the Bay area, but now we are back to summer in LA. Mild summer, though. 85 degrees is downright pleasant, compared to 105!
