Weekends

The past two days have been quite restorative.  I spent many hours outdoors with my camera in hand, taking photos of the emerging blossoms that welcome the month of May.  The days alternated between dreary and cloudy, to sunny and bright.  The weather is slowly changing to spring, finally.

Saturday for a few hours I delved into my David Copperfield book and knit at the same time, enjoying the dual tasking and the suspense of the plot.  We had chicken on the grill paired with a pea risotto.
I'm running low on the "good" chocolate and am now hitting the "back up" chocolate--it's just not the same, but when in a pinch you just have to make do.

Sunday we went to Mass then had more lazy hours of reading the paper, talking to the kids and making a little grocery list.  Dinner was homemade pizza, I create the sauce, he creates the dough.  The best part was having the pizza all to ourselves :)

Included also was:

-listening to the woodpecker but not finding him
-discovering bird's nests in the bushes :)
-walking daily

How was your weekend?

  1. I'm so happy spring has sprung in your world Karen. It's now summer here with temps reaching into the 90's, sigh.
I think homemade pizza is the best!

  3. Our weather was very similar to yours. We really enjoyed it. Home made pizza is one of my favorites! Isn't it nice to see things actually blooming?

  5. Sounds like a great weekend, love the little violets. The only ones we get in the garden are big white ones but I do remember the small purple ones from way back when I was a kid.

  6. Sounds like my kind of weekend, particularly the pizza. Spent most of mine in bed with a horrible virus, but am feeling a lot better today.

  8. I'm very bad at dual tasking and envy those who aren't.
I love woodpeckers! I think I am hearing one in the morning around here, but I never see him.

  10. dreaded sneaky woodpeckers ~ we have one that has taken to knocking on the side of our newly painted house early in the morning a couple times every week ~ we sneak out every time to try and spy him but still no luck (and no visible holes...thank goodness!!)

    I love your shoes :)

  12. Sounds like a perfect weekend to me! Ours was good too, dinner out on Friday, Saturday with the GK, and choir-singing yesterday with a smattering of knitting to fill in the rest as well as catching up on Mr. Selfridge and the Midwives last night.

  13. You always make your weekends sound interesting, productive, and relaxing! I'm envious of your ability to read and knit at the same time; I've had to resort to audiobooks to combine the two. Love the violets!

  14. Great minds think alike! :-) We grilled chicken as well but we had taboule and and a spinach, mache, radish salad to go with ours. Delish!

  15. That's my kind of weekend. : ) I'm loving the violets and other spring flowers that are popping up in the woods just now. I hate when I run out of the good chocolate--but I'm always happy so long as there is *some*. Even a few chocolate chips will do in a pinch.

  18. I wish I could knit while doing other things, like reading! Perhaps I am just too rusty but I need to concentrate on what I'm doing :) So nice to be in May now, isn't it?

  19. Your weekend sounds wonderful, Karen! Absolutely wonderful! I have been finding those same little violets popping up throughout our yard as well. Our weekend weather sounds much the same. Mine was basically the same as we have each weekend...spending time with my father-in-law over lunch on Saturday, Sunday was church and resting. I was also able to get in a bit of reading.

  20. So glad you've got pretty blooms in your lawn...we have dandelions and clover which, I guess, can be considered pretty, right? Homemade pizza is the best! :)

  21. How do you knit and read at the same time? That sounds rather difficult...
