Rabbit, Greenhouse, and Community

I've been back home almost a full week and I cannot begin to tell you the happiness I feel.  I don't remember always being a homebody but somehow along life's path I became one.  I loved my family vacation and seeing more of the south but boy oh boy, I do love home.

While on a walk this week we spied (my husband and I) the little rabbit.  Guess what?  Frodo was off of his game, he didn't see it, smell it or notice the wee thing.  Sometimes I think he is becoming an old man.  I'm glad he's less obsessed with the hunting but he was cute when he did it.

We finally went to our favorite greenhouse and bought some flowers and vegetables to plant.  We waited until after the trip so there would be less death in the garden, seedlings need tender loving vigilant care.  This cat was snoozing in the herb section and he gave me the one eye glare-so sweet!

I'm back to walking the dirt road through the woods near my house, the edges are lined with wild rose bushes that are especially fragrant this year!  Or I can smell them this year?  Allergies play a funny role in smelling sometimes.  I feel so lucky to walk, see, and inhale their heavenly scent.

On Wednesday, I rode with my newly retired friend down to the middle of the state to visit her parents at their retirement community AND go to their knitting group.  Let me tell you, it was such fun to be the young one in the group :)  I loved listening to their stories about the community, the rules, and the chit chat of their mutual friends.  No matter what age we are, it seems we love to get together and enjoy fellowship and friendship.

The women were welcoming and I enjoyed seeing all of their knits.  They do charity knitting and their projects are sent all over the world, impressive!  We also made her parents so very happy with our visit.  I have a feeling that we will be doing this day trip again.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. You are such a great friend Karen, and I'm glad you had a fun time on your trip. It sounds like a lot of fun to knit with a group of others, I've never done it.
Love seeing the area where you walk. We had Another rain storm last night and the road is a huge mud mess.
Twinkie has become an old man too and has really slowed down. Now he just likes to sleep at my feet most of the time.
    Enjoy a beautiful weekend.

I totally understand your statement about how fun it was being the young one in the group! :) I love to spend time with the older ladies because I learn so much, and their stories are so cute. Ever notice what great story tellers they are? I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend!

  4. You're right Karen, there's no place like home! I love seeing new sights and exploring new to us places, but I so love coming home. I bet the time spent at the retirement community with the knitting group was awesome. There is so much to learn from our elders, I would have enjoyed that outing as well. Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. Your week sounds lovely. I have a bunny that visits my garden and provides entertainment for the kitties who watch him from the window. I leave him a carrot now and then because he is a good bunny and does not eat my garden plants.
    Have a wonderful weekend!
