Currently on the Needles

My blanket is growing day by day, I'm loving each evening when I pick up this project and work for an hour or two.  I wonder how long this project will take until it's completed.  I still have lots of scrap fingering weight yarn to knit through so I know this will continue to be on the needles for quite some time.  As you know, each family member has claimed this blanket as their own :)

My reading is slow but enjoyable.  The Interestings is mildly interesting and at times it peaks and becomes extremely captivating only then to return to a lull.  I'll have to completely finish this book to say whether I recommend a book shelf adoption.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. I love seeing your blanket progress!!! I can't wait to begin mine....but first I need to work on Christmas sock knitting. Each year someone else joins the list of "I would love a pair of socks for Christmas!".

  3. that's gorgeous! I just finished a baby sweater + hat (will blog soon with pics) and don't have any knitting projects on the go at the moment. I'm reading I Always Loved You by Robin Oliveira, which despite the sappy name is an interesting fiction read about Mary Cassat and Edgar Degas.

  4. I am so loving your blanket Karen, it is going to be so pretty to cuddle under on a cold winter's day. I for one am so ready for cold weather to get here.

  5. I am enjoying your progress pictures of the blanket. It changes dramatically from week to week. I'm having a hard time getting into the idea of you needing it soon. Summer is sliding through our fingers and a chill will soon be in the air.

  7. Such a beautiful piece of love you are creating with your needles, my friend! I understand completely why each member of your family has claimed it as their own. I'm waiting to see exactly who it is that actually has the joy of saying, "it is mine!" :) Have a wonderful day, Karen.

  8. Wow yours is getting so big Karen. I love it. This is tempting me to stitch mine up so that I can compare how much I've done. I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the book. I suppose the title has a lot to live up to.

    1. The corner construction is easy once you do it a few times, I have it memorized and don't think twice about it. There are a lot of wrap and turns.

  24. Wow! That blanket is incredible! It's turning out so lovely, Karen! It makes me laugh that a book called "The Interestings" isn't really turning out to be all that interesting. Haha! It seems to me that if you're going to be bold enough to claim that as your title, then your book be be pretty incredibly interesting...

I'm not a knitter (yet)... I haven't done really anything except for washcloths and scarves. And my reading is really non-fiction these days : Homesteading, herbal healing and year round gardening. LOL!

Have a lovely end of the week!

  32. The blanket is just growing quite nicely! I have been trying to knit this week but it feels more like I've just been "fixing" and "cursing" and frogging when I have a block of 30 mins or so. I'm looking forward to some proper knitting and reading this weekend!

  34. Love your blanket, and it does seem to be growing quite quickly! Are you adding the leftovers randomly? I've only 77 pages left in my slow Civil War book. Hurrah!
