Weekends

Weekends are for memory making,
relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.
If you would like, please share your weekend moments
in the comment section with a link to your blog.

My weekend was quiet and slow going.  Saturday greeted me with drizzle and rain and cool air.  Oh that felt delightful, to wave goodbye to hot and humid.  I browsed a bookstore and flipped through some magazines, window shopping can be fulfilling plus I saved some money in the end.  Yes, I walked out without a purchase in my hand.

We had stir fry and I cobbled together some bok choy, mushrooms, asparagus, snow peas and tofu over buckwheat noodles.  Each time I create this dish, I become more successful at it.

We are hooked on Mad Men now....didn't take long :)  We are approaching our one year anniversary of cutting the cord to satellite services (no cable either).  My husband misses the never ending sports shows but overall we have been quite happy with Netflix and Hulu plus and the local channels.

Sadly, my favorite uncle passed away yesterday after a prolonged illness. This is the uncle who always had a smile to share and loved to make you laugh.  His stories were long and winding and sometimes never ending.  He will be missed.  Phone calls have connected my family, knitting us together and arrangements are being made.  If you could, please keep my Aunt and her children and family in your prayers.  Thank you.

I could not resist a fall cookie!!

How was your weekend?  Please do tell!

  2. Karen, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your aunt will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Our weekend was nice and cool with a little bit of drizzle on Saturday morning. Not enough to keep my friend and me from walking though. :-) Otherwise it was a relaxed and quiet weekend. Piddled around the house and the family went to the movies yesterday. It was very much needed after the hectic week we had.

Your dinner looks really good and something I would enjoy eating, do you put a sauce on
    it?
We have rain here so I am pretending it's really cold outside [it's not], and am preparing stew for dinner.
Enjoy a beautiful Monday my friend.

    1. I usually use a blend of canola oil and sesame oil with a tsp of ground ginger, when the vegetables are nearly done I will add a stir fry sauce (in a bottle) or just plain soy sauce and chili paste for some zing. the last issue of vegetarian times has some lovely noodle recipes!!!

  5. We enjoyed a hot, sunny weekend filled with end of summer garden chores, prepping the front lawn for a reseeding, church, homeschool planning, and entertaining a good friend who popped down for a visit. Lots of talking, knitting, and grilled burgers and watermelon. Today a chicken goes in the crockpot since we're starting school! Happy Monday, Karen!
