Welcome Back Little World

This week has been peaceful, even Frodo is enjoying the lull after a whirlwind weekend.  The frenzied list making and remembering random musts have been replaced by quiet moments of mundane every day events.

I've welcomed back simple grocery lists, reading snippets on blogs, articles and a magazine.  I sat and watched the clouds roll by, not really thinking of much but feeling refreshed.  The emptiness of my days have been filled with gratitude and contentment.

I've learned that I do not thrive on stress, planning a wedding is hard work and emotional, I take way too much personally and I love my every day "boring" life.  I welcome back my journal mornings, praying for friends and family and noticing the little slice of world I am blessed to occupy. Life is good.

Mornings have been restorative once again.  Oh do not be mislead, I am still plotting and planning, but this time it's about returning to healthy eating, prioritizing exercise and taking advantage of my local community and what it has to offer. I have a few more days with our son visiting as well.

In a week, my husband has two weeks off and we are embracing a "staycation".  I've been looking at new recipes, that will hopefully purge the wedding cake consumption (?!?).  His work has been challenging and time consuming and having these weeks off will work wonders for him as well.

Many of you asked about the bowls of flowers, they were given to us by my son in law's parents from the rehearsal dinner--aren't they lovely and aren't they generous?

have a lovely weekend!

  1. I do not thrive on stress either. I can handle it for a while, but unlike other people it would do me in if I had to deal with it all the time. Enjoy your weekend, your "normal" mornings and the upcoming staycation.

  2. Stress is not for me either Karen, nor change, but we won't go there today.
I have been spending everyday with Emerson [I'm waiting on her to arrive now]
so at the end of the day I am tired.
    Enjoy a wonderful, healthy, weekend.

  6. As I've told many a friend, "I've worked hard to be this boring."

I hope you get a chance to enjoy your normal and getting back on track the way you'd like. Frodo is living the dream in that photo.

  13. I think we need those stressful times occasionally to really really REALLY appreciate all we have in our 'normal' day!!!
Speaking of.....Off to clean out the basement refrigerator....it quit while we were on vacation. 100 degree days. PHEW. Not nice. It's history. (It was OLD).

  14. I'm so glad you had a week to rest and get back to your daily comforts, Karen. We are so much alike, I think that when my daughters get engaged I will feel much like you have; over the moon with joy for them but also longing for a return to my quiet days. : ) Enjoy your staycation, having time off will be so good for the two of you!

  15. Oh how lovely your life seems. I do not thrive on stress at all either. I used too... I use to love a good deadline, used to motivate me. But it doesn't anymore.

We had a "staycation" last year. 2 weeks of nothing but what we decided on in the morning was heaven. We promised ourselves to stay home once every 2 years. We were so rested.

Glad you had such a nice week-end.

  16. Staycations are the best! I like seeing other places, but home is truly where the heart is...and where Frodo is. He's so darling.

  18. Like you, I prefer the quiet life. Having planned two bar/bat mitzvahs, I can only begin to imagine what goes into a wedding! I hope my daughter finds a wonderful guy, but I also hope they will want a small celebration!
