Sights and Sounds of Late Summer Days

Oh this week has been glorious, the humidity gone, and a brisk chill is in the air in the mornings.  I know, I know, it's too early for this change.  Well, don't worry, the warm weather will be back tomorrow almost reaching 90 degrees once more.  I'm at peace with another warm up, you see, I know that these warm ups are limited now.

This week was the start of school in our area and with that is a bit of stillness and silence.  Even the cicadas are being quiet..maybe they're in school as well!  I used to love when school started, new pens, pencils, notebooks and new teachers.  I felt comforted being wrapped in a schedule with syllabuses.

I finished the hat for my dear friend's daughter, thank you for your well wishes and comments, I've passed them on.  Oh and she loved the hat!!  Currently, I'm am resting a sore forearm from all the aggressive knitting that I did.  The pain was worth it though.  I can still knit but I know my body and rest is what is needed for two or three days.

Have a lovely weekend and see you Sunday!

  3. We had a few days start out with lows in the upper 50's and lower 60's - it was glorious! Even the days weren't as hot and the humidity wasn't terrible. Now we're back in the 90's and the humidity came back with a vengeance. Oh well, at least we know fall is on the way. Give your arm some rest and have a great weekend!

  7. Hope your arm gets better soon. I have to watch myself too, my thumbs and elbows. I love the quiet of back-to-school but I do miss my babies a bit. We have crickets or cicadas here at night. It was a new experience for us as we never heard them in the city.

  9. I am not ready for cooler weather. Maybe because I know what's coming right after, our first full northern winter.

Trying to enjoy the moment and soak up the temps being in the 80's again.
Hope you have a great weekend!

  16. As a student, I loved going back to school in the fall. As a teacher, I have mixed feelings, more because of the system than the kids.
Hope your arm is beginning to feel better.

  17. Looking forward to Fall, it has been a long, hot summer in South Carolina and not much rain. The children have been in school for a couple of weeks now, have never gotten used to the early return in August down here. Hope your arm recovers quickly!
