How was your weekend?  Good?  I do hope so!

I had a relaxing weekend that started with dinner out for pizza and some of that frozen wedding cake once we came home.  There is still tons more but we will chip away here and there when we feel like cake.

Saturday was lovely.  I read, knit and listened to a few podcasts.  I felt completely relaxed.  Although summer is roaring "look at me, I'm still here" I am seeing signs of fall whispering "I'm next up".  I'm glad, I grow weary of the heat and humidity.

This morning we went to Mass.  I spoke with both kids and did all the laundry.  Dinner was left over pizza (I did not cook!).  I'm watching some Dr. Who and knitting away.  Later we will take Frodo out for a little walk.

How was your weekend?

  1. It's pleasantly cool here after a much welcome rain. However, the lightning that came with the rain wreaked havoc east of the mountains. The city of Chelan is being threatened by 3 fires that merged. Quite scary! Not too much going on here, Celebrated GD's second birthday yesterday. She's a funny little one; at one point she was wearing both of the things I made for her at the same time!

  2. We had a pretty relaxing weekend here. Ran a few errands on Saturday morning, fixed lunch, caught up on laundry and while it rained a little, made some headway on my hitofude. Today we stayed home and did more of the same. Fall is starting to show up here, too. I raked the first piles of pine needles in the garden today!

  3. You are doing me in with all this talk of cake my dear friend, now I want cake! Ha.
It was quiet here and I enjoyed myself, I am working on the journal for Emerson
and loving it, I think she will be thrilled.

  4. What a lovely, relaxing weekend you had. I am not so sure I like the look of that leaf, I am still in summer mode around here, and not quite ready for fall.

Wishing you a lovely start to your week Karen.

  6. I'll admit, I'm not ready for fall! (Although we did spend the weekend tearing up the yard and I'm a bit antsy for rain and green.) Spunds like you had a lovely weekend. Have a wonderful week.

  7. Sounds like a good comfortable weekend.
In Switzerland the weather turned as well. On Thursday the temperature dropped within an hour and ever since we've been having rain and even a little fog. The kids came back from their sailing holiday in the Netherlands and today school will start again.

  12. Sounds wonderful. We were out and about, a little vintage shopping for the house, collecting cherries from a local farm, some house painting and cooking, even a spot of bbq...but like you we feel that whisper of autumn in the air.
    Have a good week.

  13. Just like you, I'm weary of heat and humidity, and this week will be a reminder of how brutal it can be. I am glad that you have that lovely frozen cake (and the approach of fall) to console you! My weekend was equally wonderful: http://highlyreasonable.blogspot.com/2015/08/weekending.html

  17. Frozen pizza and wedding cake sounds absolutely divine. Nothing better.

We huddled inside away from the smoke all weekend. It was like February in August. Lots of arts and craft projects.

  23. Yes I am seeing signs of fall as well and looking forward to it. Mister and I worked on our flower bed in front of the house Saturday. It looks very nice and fallish. I hope to get some knitting and reading done when I get out of this hospital. Enjoying still getting to visit with you now that I don't blog anymore.

  25. So nice! Weekend was bittersweet. It started with a long drive to a funeral for an old family friend who was such a bright star in my childhood memories she was such a warm, strong and supportive woman. My mother who is not in the states was very sad, but my sister and I saved her a prayer card from Mass. The long drive allowed my sister and I to bond a bit with my father and my stepmother, to find laughter in the now. The rest of the weekend was back to school prep and some end of summer vacation friends gathering. And here we are ... on our way to the next weekend :) Have a wonderful week.

  26. Sounds like a great weekend. I had family visiting, so mine was busy busy busy!
This morning, there is a story in the New York Times reporting that people are happier after relaxing vacations, not the kind where they dash from place to place. Interesting, huh?
