Weekends

Well, my weekend was full and busy and action-packed.  Our son came home on Tuesday night and on Thanksgiving day we visited my family.  The first three photos are of my sister's house and the last photo is a massive Christmas cactus that my aunt has, isn't it awesome?

This weekend was shopping at all the stores that no one else was in.  That's the nice thing about being a crafter.  The lines in craft stores are much shorter and everyone is nice.  I started Christmas shopping too.  Saturday, I decorated my house which I will snap some photos soon.  Football was on the tv, so I had to hum my holiday music while decking my halls.  It's the little things..

I loved seeing my family and spending time with them.  Everyone is getting older and the teens are growing and becoming adults, the circle of life. We missed our daughter but don't fear, there were daily phone calls and catching up.  We are navigating our new lives with grace.  Thank goodness for cell phones :)

I don't know about you, but I'm hitting salads heavy to counteract the decadence of Thanksgiving food.  Ah, salads make life feel good!

How was your weekend?

  5. Sounds like a lovely time for you Karen and may I say, I LOVE your Christmas cactus :) My weekend was quite enjoyable. Hubby and I shopped for toys so we could donate to Toys for Tots, so many needy children here in our area. It was quite relaxing and really nice for us. Have a wonderful week!

  9. Yes, I am eating salads!
I know I am lucky that both my children were here for T-giving -- and I also know it won't work out that way every year. You know how it is: You just try to be grateful for the times you have.

  27. Oh boy, I'm with you on hitting the super healthy now that Thanksgiving is over. I took last week off from running and feel like I've been storing up fat for the winter. You are nice and tidy. I usually avoid stores after turkey day. Crowds make me highly irritable. I'm glad it was laidback in your hood.

  28. Wow, that Christmas cactus is massive!! We traveled 11 hours on Wednesday to be with family and came home on Sunday. Even though it pretty much rained the entire time, it was so good to see them! And imagine my surprise when I got home and found a a sweet package waiting for me. :-) Thank you so much Karen for the wonderful yarn, the stitch markers and beautiful cards!! I love it all and can't wait to knit something pretty.

  30. We too are learning to navigate the changing of our family. One out of the nest, one in/out, and our son is a jr. in high school. {{sigh}} It does seem strange. ;)
I don't go anywhere near a store from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday! Crowds really make me anxious.
Love that mug in the top picture (they're all great pictures but I would collect mugs given the opportunity).
Hope you have a great week!

  33. Sorry, I had to re-type my comment!
One of the things I am most grateful for this year is that all of my kids are still living at home. I know the days are soon coming when that will no longer be the case. It sounds like you had a lovely weekend visiting with your son and your extended family. I like that owl mug in the first photo--so cute! And your aunt's cactus is magnificent!

  34. Sounds like you had a great weekend! I plan to do my decorating and what not this weekend. I'm nearly done with all Christmas shopping and about half way done with Christmas gift making. :) I'm still trying to figure out what to do for my brother. Ha!

And you're not the only one who's been living off salads! I've been eating salads for the past few days!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
