Weekends

Another restful weekend for me, how about you?  Over here I woke to snow flurries, don't worry they didn't stick, phew!  As you can imagine, it's quite chilly today.  When I finished getting ready for church this morning in a spring themed outfit, my husband informed me of cold the weather.  I marched back up those stairs and reverted to my winter attire.  Spring seems to be a fickle clothe wearing season for me.

Saturday was relaxing and nothing super exciting.  Our son phoned.  I snapped a photo of my notions pouch for a hashtag challenge on Instagram.  Shamefully, I have much much more I tote around in my bag but the table is only so big! What do you lug around?

My husband and I queried back and forth:

"what do you want to do today?"
"I dunno, what do you want to do today?"

That ended up with staying at home. Lots of knitting for me!

Included in my weekend:

-knitting on every single project - homemade pizza - writing the menu list - realizing I probably won't stick to the list but it was fun to write - cleaning out a closet - setting dates for our son's second spring break trip to home at the end of this month (yay!) - talking to my sister -

  1. Sometimes days at home are the best! I hope the weather warms up soon for you. My weekend has been good, quiet days, a bit of gardening and a night out with friends to see a David Bowie tribute act. Wishing you a happy week ahead, Karen xx

  2. Snow?! Everyone has been getting snow but me [insert whine]. :)

I have been taking it easy this week, but now am ready to get back to a regular schedule tomorrow. And I'm joining in today [time to get back to blogging too]

  3. at that yarn shop I was in yesterday....the owner had just downsized her wardrobe to 10 outfits. That's it. She was so happy....and sounded so liberated....and looked so darn cute in the outfit she had on. I spent most of the weekend trying (mostly unsuccessfully!!!) to downsize my closet. Compared to most people, I have few clothes. Compared to her....I have WAY too many!!! I'm looking for a compromise!

  4. There are flurries flying here as I write! More knitting time is never a bad thing, especially when it means your Pincha is growing. It's gorgeous!

  5. We started out with a rainy weekend that we spent inside at a child's birthday party (that I really didn't want to go to, but you know how THAT is). Today was GORGEOUS --- a trip to the home center to get mulch and then spreading the mulch and enjoying the cat checking out all the tools and bags. LOL

It gave me big incentive to start pulling weeds and freshening up the yard.

    Hope spring finds you son.

  6. I used to carry a lot more when the girls were little, just in case...Now, hardly anything, money and cards, lipstick and tissues. That is it. Take care.

  7. The temperature can't make up its mind here either. I so want to get out and do some gardening (or sit in the garden with a cup of tea ;) But staying in and knitting or sewing is just fine for me too :)

  11. That sounds like a perfect weekend! I carry so much stuff around in my bag-my sister can get away with a tiny purse, but I lug around a giant tote everywhere, lol!

  12. Feels so good to be back into routine after my trip in early March. April! I hope you're good to me! Nice to be joining you today, Karen. Love that you're sharing your notions...I have to confess that I didn't share everything that was in my bag in my IG post either. My SB's "knit chek" is red. I see all the clever wooden ones (like Tracey's) and think how I'd like to have one, but I bought mine when I first picked up knitting needles, so I'm sticking with it. :)
Have a great day and week!

  14. And it's snowing here again today. Crazy! I have to take do my notions pouch meme on IG today. It was so dark I couldn't get a good picture last night. Yours is definitely more organized than mine!

  15. A day at home pottering and knitting sounds very good to me! We had homemade pizza this weekend too, isn't it delicious! xx

  16. I love how your shawl is knitting up! It really shows off variegated yarn. Homemade pizza sounds yummy. I need to give making pizza dough from scratch another go. My first was a disaster.

  17. I love that last photo--the colors are so vibrant and springlike. It is snowing here again today (it snowed yesterday, too). It's pretty, but I'm rather "over" winter. Your shawl is looking so nice. In my notions pouch I carry: tape measure, the same Susan Bates metal needle sizer/gauge ruler you have, two different sized yarn needles, stitch markers, two crochet hooks, two cable needles, a notepad and pencil.

  18. We had snow Saturday. Yesterday got to 50s and it felt wonderful. I sat on the porch and knitted a bit. THe poor birds around here. IF they cant stay warm in this cold, and if they cant sit on their nests because they are flying out of the trees in this wind, I dont know how they survive. I keep feeding them. (suet)
I got to purchase yarn Saturday and Knit a second Sock Sunday.
We picked up son from Airport Sat at midnight....he had a great break in Mexico.

  19. As I write this the snow is just coming down in droves! Such wonky weather we are having! : ) What a lovely weekend you had Karen, mine was busier than usual. Chorus rehearsal all day on Saturday (gearing up for next month's competition) and a bridal shower on Sunday. Today I am thankful for the crazy weather that is keeping me cozy inside the house! Have a wonderful week! xx

  20. Well we got a little more than flurries...we are covered in a blanket of white. The sun is shining though, and even though it is chilly, it still feels like spring is in the air.

Sounds like a delightful weekend Karen, and that shawl...swoon.

  22. That shawl is STUNNING!! I absolutely love how it's turning out, so beautiful! I did a 1/2 marathon on Saturday morning and afterwards got sick. :-( I'd been feeling a bit puny beforehand, but after it really got me - stayed on the couch all day yesterday. Thankfully it's not strep like I thought it was and the doctor gave me some meds today.

  23. Oooh how I love that knit! Reminds me of a tail on a pheasant or peacock. I have a thing for unusual fowl...I had guinea hens for some time, before loosing that particular marital battle. (Husband claimed they made too much noise...)
