Hello!  As I type this post, it's tipping down buckets of rain.  My husband is whipping together a home made pizza with mushrooms and black olives.  This rainy day makes for an excellent excuse to stay home and do nothing :)

How was your weekend? I hope it was filled with family and friends and good times.

Mine started off strong with walks around the neighborhood with Frodo - more dinners at home instead of eating out (I am on an inspirational roll!) - loving the summer-like days.  My husband and I sat in the back yard, listening to the birds, reading books and talking.  It was nice.

Yesterday I celebrated my first day in 32 days of not being on Prednisone.  Unfortunately today, I'm in a lot of pain in my right hand and wrist, so I'll be calling the RA doc (again).  It seems like this is a repeat theme of mine and I'm getting weary of it.  I spent most of the day researching my disease and educating myself.

I keep icing and resting, icing and resting.  I also have a wrist splint to limit movement.

I am ever so grateful for having a medically managed disease for nearly 18 years with no medicine changes, truly a minor miracle and I haven't had a major flare up for over six years.  So I keep chanting over and over that this is temporary.  (I've had the same doctor throughout it all).

And while I'm being grateful, I'm glad I can walk - not knitting is a bummer but I guess it's okay temporarily.

If you have a prayer to spare - throw it to my hand and wrist!!

  2. Sorry you're in pain again. Would acupuncture help in any way? I loved seeing on IG how you were out and about. LOVE Frodo. The pizzas sound yummy, right up the princesses alley.

  10. Prayers for peace and good health coming your way. After a downpour on Friday evening, we had two lovely quiet June days. Friday evening I wove in the ends of my latest shawl and then took several walks and knit on and off on the Christmas stocking.

  12. I am sad to hear that it has been rough going as of late. I will continue to say prayers for you. We had some rain earlier that just snuck up on us. Good for my plants but not so much for little boys who want to play in their sandboxes. We had a restful weekend and I am glad to see you all had the same.

  14. I'm so sorry for hearing that about your RA.
I still wake up in the middle of the night with terrible pain on my wrist and I need about 20 minutes in the morning for my hands to "wake up" but other than that it's manageable.
Take good care of yourself. Hope you'll feel better.

  15. Sorry to hear you have pain again that must be so frustrating, I do hope it goes soon. I hope your lovely weekend made up, a bit, for that frustration and I also hope you have a good week ;)

  16. Lots of prayers coming your way my friend. So sorry it has been bothering you, and I do hope it resolves itself quickly. It rained her yesterday too, my gardens are so very happy. It's a bit of a love hate relationship though, because the grass enjoyed it too, and now I have to find time to cut it :)

Have a great start to your week Karen.

  17. I certainly am praying for you, I know how hard it can be living with a debilitating disease. My husband is having a flare up at the moment that the specialists are finding hard to control. Take care of yourself.

  20. You are in my thoughts. I hope that you don't need another dose of Prednisone! It's a miracle drug, but it does have its drawbacks. Take it easy!

  21. So frustrating that the pain is there again. I hope it will ease sooner rather than later.

Your weekend otherwise sounds lovely, though.

  23. Prayers are definitely being sent your way, Karen! I hope the flare up dies down soon, I hate the thought of you not being able to knit. : ( We spent Saturday celebrating my uncle's 90th birthday and Sunday we stayed in and read and played games...the rain kept us from heading outdoors. My husband made pizza for us, sausage and red peppers, it was delicious! Have a wonderful week! xx

  25. Hope you feel better soon... not being able to use your wrist and being on medication so much must we difficult.. but it's good to hear that you have been managing it so well for so many years.

  26. Odd question. Has anyone mentioned that you should sleep in your braces to keep from stressing your wrist in your sleep. Once I was told this it made a real difference for my nerve related hand and wrist pain. I hope things improve quickly and you will be able to resume knitting soonest.
