Weekends

Weekends are for memory making,
relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.
If you would like, please share your weekend moments
in the comments section of the blog.

Hello!  Oh did I have a great weekend!  First of all, we have been busy with rejiggering the bedrooms.  We bought a queen bed to replace the last twin bed in our son's room.  We also bought ourselves a new bed and the learning curve has been crazy!

My body is sad and missing the old bed!  However, I remember when we bought that bed and I lamented how my body was sore and missed the bed before that.  Each day it gets better, thank God.
Because of my RA, I cannot evaluate any furniture buying as "comfortable" because I guess I'm in a state of mild discomfort?  So it's all up to my husband to discern the comfortableness in furniture.

Friday we went out to dinner with friends at a neighboring town.  We had a good time and enjoyed some pretzels and dips (yum!).  I had a portabella burger that was nice, but quite messy-I switched to a knife and fork half way through.

Lucky for me, my husband made another curry Saturday, so I did not have to cook.  Today was a "big" salad.  If you see a theme of me not cooking well you are seeing correctly!

Hey!  I finished a shawl last night.  I hope to block it sometime this week.

How was your weekend?

Thank you all for stopping and reading, commenting and meeting some new friends or saying "hey" to some old friends.  I value the little community we have developed over the years :)

  2. School starts in one week. I have to get back into menu planning. I love big salad nights. If I had my way it would be on the menu every other day.

  3. Sounds like a lovely weekend.
Since Keith retired, I expect him to do most of the cooking. He's quite good about it, as long as I pick out the recipes.

  4. Hope that new bed breaks in and is comfy soon. We'll be looking for beds soon, I'm guessing. Our guest room will have guests at Christmas time and there is no bed in there.

Thinking about putting OUR bed in there and getting a new one for ourselves.

although you have already read about mine... :) i have to add - it's Garren Cake sale day on tuesday so I kept myself all busied up in the kitchen most of sunday morning with making a beer box chocolate cake that they can cut up and sell. It only happens once a year - so we get excited with him when it happens. its the little things - right?

  8. More preserves and a little sewing was how I spent my weekend having a break from the excitement of the Summer visitors. Hope all goes well with the new bed.

  10. Sounds like a lovely weekend! I cook on Sundays for the week so I never get 'no cooking weekends". But since it makes my work easier I don't mind.

  11. I am in the same boat with furniture evaluation. I've never met a chair I like to sit in for very long. Our new bed is wonderful (once I'm asleep).

  12. I can sleep anywhere so my husband has to pick the mattress... :) LOL! When our son leaves next summer I am taking his room over as a hobby room. When Grandma is no longer "with us" her room will be a guest room, our daughters room down stairs will also be a guest room when she moves on. ;) I'm not rushing anyone though!
Can't wait to see that shawl!!!

  14. Hopefully you get used to the new bed soon. I got a new bed a few months ago, and it's made a wonderful difference for me. Sounds like a wonderful weekend, and I totally understand not wanting to cook!

  15. You are making me crave curry again. Does your husband make it totally from scratch or does he use a mix? My husband bought some hardware to bolt our 12 year old bed frame together. The original hardware is those turning discs and they don't tighten as well after aging.

  16. Sounds like a good weekend. A husband who makes curry is a keeper!
I can sleep on anything soft, which is good because I have insomnia with worrying.

  17. Can't wait to see your finished Antarktis. I finally started one this morning. Thank you for the gentle push towards knitting my own.

  19. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Love the photo of the fountain; where is it? We spent the weekend on the OR Coast, celebrating our anniversary. The weather was great, and we enjoyed walking on the beach and watching the tide come in. Also visited 2 yarn shops, and you guessed it, came home with more yarn. Now I really do need to destash!!! Wish I could knit as fast as you do!
