Victoria Park, London Ontario
My husband and I went to London, Ontario to visit his parents as well as his brother and sister-in-law.  I am exhausted from the long car ride up and back.  However, we has some serious Hamilton musical listening time.  If I could hone my rapping skills, I'd be singing to a heck of a lot more of the songs.  I'm practicing.  We played a few songs for my in-laws while driving here and there for dinners out and I think my mother-in-law loved it, she was toe tapping along.

hey, what? telephones!  Look at how CLEAN they all look because they are rarely used!
We ate out (a lot!) and did very little walking.  So you know that I'll be writing up a "recovery diet from over indulging".
It's good to be home and tonight I'll be sleeping in my bed and in the morning drinking coffee in my coffee drinking spot.  Ah, it's the little things.

Us trying the selfie thing in Victoria Park

Oh and I'm back on line!  My in laws do not have internet (!?!?) and ATT is pretty stingy with the limited data that I'm willing to pay.  We went to a few coffee shops but it's not the same is it?  The internet drought was eye opening at how much I google in the day and how much I check my emails and instagram.  I'm not changing my ways though.  The internet is one of the greatest inventions of all time.

That is how I've met all of you!

How was your weekend?

(it's going to take me a few days to get caught up with all of you, but trust me, I will!)

  1. I don't know the last time I saw public telephones in the wild! And that is a great selfie! It's always nice to get away, even if it's so you can enjoy coming home and better appreciate your own bed and coffee-drinking spot. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

  2. Sounds like you had a good time in Canada. Some day you'll have to try my side of the country. :-)

One of the best things about traveling is returning home to established routines. And one's own bed. Have a great week!

  5. Sounds like a wonderful weekend. I love off-line weekends, I try to keep off the internet on weekends and I am getting better at it ;-)
My weekend was mostly about battling a cold (or the flu, but I hope it's just a cold), lots of knitting and helping my husband tearing down another wall of dark paneling.

  8. It looks like you have had a wonderful adventure. Thanks for sharing your weekend with us. and I understand the lack of internet. I live in a very rural county and the only internet we have is a prepaid hot spot or the local coffee shop that I am working at now.

  14. you two are adorable trying out that selfie thing.. lol. It looks like your husband is trying to duck out of the picture though I'm sure he was actually trying to duck into it.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time.. but in the end our bed is our bed and it is the little things.

  15. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! Isn't it amazing that public phones have become photo-worthy? I can't get over how clean those were. Is that a Canadian thing, maybe?

  16. What a great weekend! Road trips are the best! I know about the Internet! My grandparents never use the Internet and it was so weird when I was staying with them - it felt like I was cut off from the entire world! Have a great week, dear Karen!

  18. Keep practicing, Karen, you'll be rapping in no time! : ) "...the ten dollar, founding father without a father/got a lot smarter/by working a lot harder..." soon you'll be singing it in the shower!

It looks like you had a wonderful time in spite of the lack of internet. And I agree with you, I am thankful for the internet because it has brought so many new friends into my life...including you! xo

  19. Love your selfie!! It really is quite something how connected we are throughout the day, isn't it? I agree with you about the Internet and am thankful it's made the world a much smaller place -- how else would I get to keep up with my daughter & grandbaby in Edinburgh?? Oh my! And, of course, all my blog & IG pals. :) I just posted a late weekending post. Thanks for faithfully hosting and keeping many of us connected! xo

  20. I totally want to take my kids to Canada. What a lovely place it is. You and your husband are so cute in that selfie. No internet? Your in-laws are so disciplined!

  21. Sounds like you had a nice trip! Our weekend was a bit sad as a choir friend passed away on Friday. (That makes the third one in about 6 weeks, too.) The good part of the weekend was that the terrible storm that was predicted missed our area altogether.

  22. I love the park bench. I have spent the week away (for the most part) from the internet and feel quit disconnected from my friends. Traveling is hard on the body and psyche and I hope you're feeling better now!

  23. Love the selfie :)
I too am very grateful for the Internet, though it is tempting to get carried away.
I'm always surprised by pictures of Canada and the US at how everything everywhere seems to look so clean - like those telephones. Do you not get dust and mud and litter bugs on the other side of the Atlantic? xx
