How was your weekend?  I'm trying to capture and memorize the best fall foliage by far this past week and weekend.  Glorious displays everywhere I turn.  Truly, this is completely energizing for me and my creativity.  I see color combinations for knitting, the chilly air inspires me to knit more and more, faster and faster.  I've made many 'to knit' lists.  Some for me, some for presents that I have in mind.

These are a few of the yarns I bought earlier in the week.  All destined for knitting presents.  I could be a knitting elf for Santa!  Yesterday, I worked diligently on a gift hat that will be finished tonight.  Unless I'm side tracked by something else.

My husband and I, along with Frodo had our daily walks.  We saw hawks soaring and we listened to the woodpeckers.  On the one road we walk, a distant neighbor has bought a rooster who loves to say "hello" to us.  We are quite a ways away and he has to spy us through the woods.  This rooster makes me quite happy.

My one Christmas cactus has decided to celebrate and bloom early.  My other one probably needs repotted and refuses to bloom.  Oh well, I'm okay with that.  My sister gifted me a delightful bowl of succulents that I am SLOWLY killing.  I will insist it's because my house is not bright enough, and I'm sticking to that excuse... If they are still alive when I see her, she might be getting them back so they have a chance at a beautiful life.

The laundry is nearly done, the tea is waiting in my favorite mug and I'm gonna sit and knit.

How was your weekend?

  1. The fall foliage photos are my favorites. We don't get much color here or should I say, we haven't YET! Not sure how north Florida compares to central .....time will tell.

Our weekend was full of exploring new areas in our new neighborhood.

  2. I think you are one of Santa's most productive knitting elves! My Christmas cacti are also starting to bloom but I refuse to insult their lovely blossoms by calling them Election Day cacti. Save the succulents!

  4. As I drove between our home and temp home, I drive through Hoosier National Forest. The colors always make me think of quilting. I see all kinds of color combos that thrill my soul.

  5. Beautiful weekend, Karen! It was likewise here - such spectacular weather. I would like to bottle it and keep it to open in January or February!

  7. We had one very rainy day which was good for getting things done inside, followed by a day of sunshine so we could get outside. A nice balance.

  9. I can't keep succulents alive either, or any houseplant really. Which is surprising...I guess my green thumb is only for outdoors :) We had a great weekend, celebrating my little man...he's eight...gah!! So much fun. Hope you have a great start to your week Karen.

  10. You sound so grounded. I love it!

I haven't knit with Ella Rae yet, but I see it from time to time. You'll have to let me know how it knits up.

  11. We were kept in by the awful weather, rain and winds. We did fill our time crafting, baking and puzzling so a nice relaxing weekend.

  12. I have two Christmas cacti both of which probably need repotting as they haven't bloomed in several years. They are quite large though and I don't want any bigger pots around. I love the fall foliage and those beautiful yarns. I am looking forward to seeing your projects.

  14. Oh new yarn! What a happy place! :) I love those colors both the yarn and the foliage. I am looking forward to taking some days off work this winter to just stay home and read and knit and read and knit and...well, you get the idea.. LOL!
Can't wait to see what you create out of these new skeins. Have a blessed day friend!

  15. I hear you on the succulents. I bought a few small ones, and the guy at the farmer's market said they didn't need/want direct sun. Maybe our sun is just way too indirect ...

  16. Your fall looks like it is still in full swing. Ours is rapidly disappearing. Leaves are falling off the trees at an alarming rate, and by next week I'm sure most will be bare. My weekend was spent madly working on the Christmas sweaters for my two granddaughters.

  18. We got outside for a lovely little autumn walk through the bog: http://inblueink.blogspot.com/2016/11/weekends.html

I am the worst at keeping houseplants alive. And yet, I do so enjoy having them around...

  19. Your weekend sounds as if it was divine, Karen. We had a good weekend here as well, especially since both Penn State AND the Giants won! ; ) I have been knitting a hat for my brother but am having a hard time of it. It is such an easy pattern, all stockinette stitch, but I seem to lose my way without even realizing it. I've had to tear it out part of the way twice now! I am beginning to think that maybe I am just not cut out to be a knitter! I am in awe of your talent. : )
