Weekends

I celebrated my birthday this weekend and one of the birthday wishes I wished for growing up was snow.  Sometimes I would get snow and sometimes not.  I had fun thinking about it all throughout November year after year,  wondering if it might happen.  Well guess what?  I woke up to this!  What a delight to have snow :)

I've been frantically trying to get all of my knitting done for Thanksgiving when I see my people.  I am nearly there.  I'm down to hours of knitting instead of days.  I am happy!  Oh and I spent this morning wrapping stuff while doing laundry.

Today we went to see Rent the musical in Scranton at the Scranton Cultural Center.  I thoroughly enjoyed the show and recommend it if it's traveling in a town near you.  This was my first time at this theater and was quite pleased the masonic temple felt more like a castle.  Afterwards was a quick dinner then back home.

I spent quite a lot of time rearranging and relighting my table top lanterns to make them brighter.  Battery operated twinkle lights (LED) are not bright enough nor do they last long on batteries.  Electricity is the way to go.  I bought new LED strings, an extension cord and a timer.  You know you are living the high life when you don't have to plug or unplug anything.  This is luxury!

How was your weekend?

  1. Happy birthday Karen!!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, and the snow...how lovely. Scranton, eh, I drive right through there on my way down south. Have a wonderful start to your week.

  2. Happy, happy birthday! I'm glad you got SNOW for your birthday!!!

We spent the weekend exploring our new neighborhood! It was great fun, if a bit chilly outside. It made the Christmas decorations seem right in place. LOL

  3. Sounds like a great weekend for you and an even better one coming up. I love Thanksgiving. We drive about an hour to my sister and brother-in-law's home. The guys will watch football. We will knit and enjoy coffee and pie. So much to be grateful for these days.

  5. Happy Birthday, Karen! Our weekend was a mixture: fun with the grandkids, singing this morning, and singing again at a choir friend's memorial service, sad but uplifting.

  6. Hau'oli la hanau my friend. I'm glad you spent it wonderfully. The ceiling of the cultural center is lovely! I've never seen Rent. Husband is not into musicals although I think he'd like Lion King. He does like Cirque du Soleil; we've seen Totem and Curio. We're waiting for the one that's like Avatar to come to the South Bay.

  19. Happy birthday, Karen and I hope it was a fantastic day! I am, like you, knitting. My things need to get wrapped and shipped - and I am still in the "day's" of knitting category! But, work is done at noon tomorrow until next week so I think I can get a good bit done this weekend as we are not going anywhere!

  20. Look at all that snow! Color me jealous! : ) We got a dusting, not enough to get excited about but I do love that the weather has turned colder. It's supposed to snow on Thanksgiving Day, my fingers are crossed! Our weekend was lovely, we went and visited our land and then went to the mountain that faces our property and hiked up part of the Appalachian Trail to see if we could spot an blaze orange vest we had hung from a tree. Alas, we couldn't spy it, but we enjoyed the climb anyway! xx
