Merry Christmas!  How was your weekend holiday?  I hope peaceful and enjoyable.  I had a wonderful weekend with most of our presents opened yesterday.  Oh hey, I received from Santa a new camera lens.  All of the photos are from the new lens and so far I am loving photography all over again.

Saturday I read all day mostly trying to get some serious progress done on Alexander Hamilton.  I'd love to finish by the new year but I'm not.  I don't have the time to read all day every day from here to then.  So maybe by January 15th?  Yep.  Totally doable.

Saturday evening we attended the Children's Christmas Eve Mass.  Those little ones look so little and cute.  Pretty dresses for the girls and bow ties and suspenders for a few of the young men. Bow ties remind me of Dr. Who.

Instead of my traditional chocolate torte for dessert, I made apple crumble.  I think I overdosed on the chocolate this week, hence the change.  Even though the apples were covered in sugar, I consider them a healthy alternative.

Yesterday was opening gifts, lounging around looking at our gifts and enjoying the day.  My dinner was purposefully simple so I could spend the least amount of time in the kitchen:  Baked potatoes, green beans, a tossed salad and battered fried shrimp.

To be honest, wanting the fried shrimp was better than eating them.  That kind of cooking, while tasty and delicious, is heavy for me.  I probably won't do that again next year.

This morning I have to do some (more) grocery shopping for phase two of my holiday celebrations.  My daughter and son in law arrive tomorrow!  I am excited - she hasn't been here since March.  That is too long if you ask me.

How was your weekend?

  3. Enjoy your visit with your daughter and son-in-law. I agree that March to December is much to long a time away. Hubby and I celebrated this weekend with my son, daughter, and mom. It is so nice to have them in the house again. Your photos are great. I am glad you are enjoying photography again.

  8. Merry Christmas! I sing in choir, so it was midnight Mass for me, I love the beauty of it, but I seem to get more tired every year! Christmas day was spent with family and I had everyone over for Christmas dinner, ham, brussels sprouts, roasted potatoes, & chocolate cake for 10! I slept well last night and had a quiet day today. Enjoy the rest of this Christmas season!

  9. I love seeing Frodo! My Jellybean would have been parked right by your side while you were fryin' shrimp. She loves that crustacean. I love the snowmen shot. They are so cute and the lighting makes that corner cozy.
