Weekends

relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.

How was your weekend?  Mine was wonderfully restful and calm.  While I'm all for weekends with family and celebrations like last weekend, I savor the quiet "boring" ones.  We only ventured out for Saturday evening Mass this weekend.

I finished reading another book, working on tidying up the house and clean some rooms.  Menu plans were sketched out.  We took our daily walks with Frodo.  I love the nakedness of the trees and while it looks like winter, the birds were tweeting and calling to each other.  A soft sign of approaching another season.

I quickly did laundry yesterday so I could enjoy the afternoon knitting and starting my fox softie kit.

How was your weekend?

  5. Your home decorations are lovely. What great ambiance they make.
And I usually knitted tighter on my bamboo DPN's. I think I've relaxed because I've broken one 0 of that set, I broke a green wood one of a set I had picked up last summer in Seattle, and one of the birch ones I broke too. I have to rethink how many sts I should CO because my gauge is affected and I don't really want to buy 00's.

  7. You sound happy with your weekend! Im glad. My saturday was great...we went to watch something new: a horse/rider barrel racing competition about an hour away. Fascinating! Then out to a new favorite spot for a quick dinner. SUnday, I cried. Son let us know he is staying in Mexico even longer. It is all good for him..but this mama wants him back!

  8. Sometimes a lazy boring weekend is exactly what you need.. we don't have many lazy ones even if they are boring ones.. but when one rolls around I embrace it wholeheartedly.

  9. I love the quiet weekends, too. This past weekend was spending time with family and working like a crazy person to finish a quilt.

  10. Our weekend was a quiet one as well, Karen. Like you, we needed it after the busy weekend we'd had last week. Both of us did a lot of reading, some napping. We did enjoy dinner at our friends' on Saturday night and on Sunday we, my brother and his family took our mom out for a birthday lunch.

...Reading this, I realize that it doesn't sound quiet at all! : ) But it really was!

  11. I love the boring weekends also. I want to know how you get your Christmas cactus to bloom. Mine haven't bloomed in several years. They may need to be repotted.

  12. Restful, I was actually able to accomplish a few things on my To-Do list. I also found the weekend inspiring, looking forward to see awesome empowering women this year. -Sierra

  13. Such beautiful and serene photos, Karen! Loved every one. Our weekend was quiet, too... I was ready for the rest after having spent the week with the grandsons. LOL! Finished my Big Easy shawl and picked up the Decemberist I started last month. Hope you have a wonderful week. blessings ~ tanna

  14. I love the boring weekends. Ours was quite rainy & I passed the time purging craft books from the shelves. I haven't cross stitched in years & really don't need 68 cross stitch books. Now, I just need to get them out of the house & taken to the used book store before I decide that maybe I do need them after all.

Is that a 10-stitch blanket in that last photo? It's beautiful!
