Currently on the Needles

Hello!  As you can see, I've a new knitting project and a new book.  I love beginnings!

I finished Britt Marie was Here and loved loved loved it immensely.  The ending was perfection and I love her character growth throughout the book.  She never sacrificed her true personality in fact she embraced herself but also focused on what SHE wanted.  We should all do that in our life.

I also finished Small Victories on Sunday night.  Anne Lamott is a fantastic writer about life in general.  She is raw, honest and poignantly funny about her spiritual journey.  I find myself chuckling as I read her essays.  Reading this book coincided with the beginning of Lent and I might try to do that next Lent as well, this faith reading seems appropriate.

My knitting!  I started another Pebble Beach shawl with this lovely soft green wool  So far the yellow tones and the white tones are enough to add some bling but not overpowering. Phew.  I was concerned while I was winding the skein up.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  3. Beautiful yarn, Karen! I know what you mean - sometimes winding a skein I fear what it will knit up. Sometimes pattern and yarn do not play nicely, but it looks like you hit the sweet spot! It looks lovely! I have not read Brit Marie, but you are making me feel like I should! Thank you!

  10. My daughter suggested I read LIt. I never picked it up from our library. I'm knitting mittens ...oddly enough. At the end of winter. :)

  11. What pretty yarn! You're set for March, with green yarn and an Irish book! ;) I was just putting together a display of books by Irish authors at the library where I work and it got me wanting to read another Maeve Binchy. I have a few of her books, but the only one I've read is "Quentins."

  13. I like subleties of that yarn. How are you liking Chestnut Street? I went on a Maeve Binchy binge once, reading seven books of her in a row. I really like her storytelling of communities of every day people. I will add a book of hers to my 2017 must read shelf. You have inspired me to.

    1. it's nice with happy endings for a collection of short stories. I've read all of her books except Minding Frankie and possibly one other one. She is/was one of my favorite authors pre: computer, internet, ravelry, goodreads documenting!
