Weekends

How was your weekend? Mine is still going strong.  I still have company here until Tuesday morning, then on Tuesday evening our son in law arrives in town.  Maybe every day will be feeling like a weekend around her.  We are in some kind of weird heat wave - it's not pretty my friends.  So a day or so ago, I documented the fall sightings.  They uplift my soul to see Mother Nature doing her thing in spite of hot weather.

My weekend:  daughter home and healing - carrot cake! - dinner with the table full of family - laughter - endless busy days - lots of talking - lots of knitting too - late nights and early mornings - loving my family.

I'd love for you to share your weekend in the comments if you're up to it.  Anything fun? or new?

  1. Thank you for showing me that fall is out there! We've got the same weird heat wave and it's kind of awful. But, there is family, fun, laughter, and carrot cake, so that almost makes up for 90 degrees in late September. My weekend looked like this: http://highlyreasonable.blogspot.com/2017/09/weekending_25.html

  2. The weird, awful heat wave is still going strong here in Illinois and we haven't had measurable rain since July 24th. Everything is just dried up and brown. But, on Saturday our church had Mass followed by our annual picnic at the historic Lincoln Log Cabin site (home of Lincoln's parents) and we had a nice family dinner yesterday. It looks like cooler weather is on the way later this week!

  3. My weekend was so quiet, I seriously have nothing to report! I think it was the opposite of yours. :-)

  4. We had friends visiting, good food, I knit all day Sunday, and hot weather. So it wasn't all fun and games! LOL

  5. All quiet here with nothing much to report. Your weekend sounds idyllic, a wonderful family gathering what could be better?

  6. Well it was good and bad. Zach had another two measurable quakes in Chicapas. One saturday one sunday. This is getting tiresome. He is fine. He has a back pack with his clothes and passport at the ready. He now has an earthquake app.
The weekend was fun at the barn for me. Great distraction from reality of my son being so far away and in possible peril

  7. I was on the move all weekend -- two festivals and an outdoor movie (plus the usual chores) kept me busy!

  8. I am all for weekends that never end. That's how I felt about my maternity leave. Joyous times.

Enjoy your precious days with your kids, as I know you will. Happy official fall.

  9. So happy for you to be having an extended family time.

Our weekend was spent visiting our favorite places on the north coast of Florida. The weather was just perfect for it.

  12. We've been having a heat wave here in Virginia also. And along with the heat, it's been horribly humid. One good thing about it - I don't mind being trapped indoors, in a windowless room, while at work all weekend. Glad you're having fun (and carrot cake!) with your family.

  14. What fun you're having. Glad your daughter is on the mend. I hope she had the easier surgery for appendicitis.
That does sound like a heavy read but yes, necessary and important to do so. Have you ever been to the Museum of Tolerance in LA? At the very end they have a life size model of a gas chamber which is the last of your tour through it. When I taught, we read The Devil's Arithmetic which is about a girl who didn't appreciate nor know her Jewish heritage and travels back in time and experiences it. It's really good.
