Knitting News


I'm enchanted with the true colors shawl.  I find myself sitting down and knitting, getting lost in a sea of thoughts -- just one more row -- just one more color -- Everyone should have a knitting project that becomes an obsession!  I will be sad when this knit is finished.

I have been thinking of casting on another one though...


The clover leaf shawl is my pick up and go knitting project.  The bag is tiny and portable and fits in my handbag.  I have the pattern memorized and can quickly see where I am so I can knit away.  I love having a lace knitting project in the summer months, light and airy in my lap.  This one is a great knit that I'm enjoying.


I'm currently reading The Chilbury Ladies' Choir and The Beautiful Mystery.  Both are great reads!

    Your first book I have on my TBR; its summary sounds like a good one. I really love your second shawl. I love the soft colors and how soft the yarn looks. I just want to bury my face in it and rub my cheek against it.
    You are not tardy in birthday wishes b/c technically, Jellybean's birthday is the 11th. Sometimes families take off early from school to travel overseas. I plan to make her her favorite gourmet mac 'n cheese Monday, a Barefoot Contessa recipe and I may make carrot cake. We'll see about that.

    That True Colors are beautiful. I can understand why you want to keep on knitting. I would love to make it but I find that I just don't use shawls.

    Those "just one color, just one row" knit projects are my favorite kind! But, I really love the colorway of your clover shawl. Both projects are lovely. Thank you for the book recommendations. I'm going to check them out. I'm reading The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry, which was the winner of all kinds of awards in England. I'm only about a hundred pages into it, but so far so good. My weekend happily contained: -wearing the above woolens all at the same time without being hot -so many walks and taking in the changing leaves. -a leaf shower on Saturday-the wind swirled the leaves off the trees up in the air to float down -changing screen savers to autumn themes! -a craft fair where my husband and I say "we could make that", but we don't. -french fries at the craft fair -scrambled eggs and toast for dinner because we were lazy. -football season has descended in my house. he was in the front room watching whatever is on today -I sat in the family room and watched A Tree Grows in Brooklyn .   Now I want to read it again. -Oh! Hopefulness

  Good morning! This week has been busy with classes and routine doctor appointments. The arthritis doctor has a few tricks up her sleeve for some of my dry mouth issues (from my autoimmune disease - Sjorgren's Syndrome) that make me feel hopeful. What was the most important thing during that doctor visit is that I felt seen and heard. I am thankful for her and her team. Speaking of hopefulness, look at my daffodils sprouting up! Some of the daffodils are just starting and some already have a head start. I love winter, but I'm looking forward to spring. The crocuses seem to be taking their time this year, as well as the snowdrops (unless those pesky deer have eaten them, grr). Even though I am still knitting my baby blanket, I have gathered four skeins of potential socks to be and am dreaming of a wonderful sock frenzy cast on.

New Year

  Good morning! How are you? Happy New Year, may this year be full of blessings to all of you. Well now, I finally have an empty home after having our son, daughter in law, grandson and granddaughter here for six nights.  I am still experiencing fatigue and symptoms from the virus even though I am feeling better. It was a challenge hosting family while recovering. Also we babysat the kids overnight (!!) while my son and daughter in law went for little getaway. I am thankful and grateful my Aunt came over both days to help out with the granddaughter who never sleeps during the day. (snack-naps do not count!). They all left early in the morning, and while I was tired, sleep deprived and fatigued, I put away Christmas plus all the toys and doodads you need for babies. Today I am looking at a squeaky clean house. I am planning on reading books and falling asleep while doing so! My exercise routine is on hold as I slowly get better. Maybe next week I can muster up some energy for some yoga
