Knitting News

For the past few weeks, I've been craving simplistic knits and so I cast on a cowl and a blanket to satisfy my craving.  Now I am wishing for a complicated knit and have been searching Ravelry for some ideas and inspirations.  So far I haven't found THE knit, but you know I will.

I haven't been able to knit as much as I usually do because of my back strain from last Monday, but I'm pleased to report I'm feeling so much better and each day I can knit a little longer than the day before.  I missed knitting!

My son's blanket is slowing growing, this is my evening knit while watching TV with my husband. The pattern is super easy!

My peace cowl is making steady progress as well.

I've been reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine which is captivating.  I continue to read How The Light Gets In by Louise Penny on my Kindle while on the treadmill at the gym.  I'm tempted to read this while not on a treadmill.

My third book that I'm reading, The Cat Who Came For Christmas, was gifted to me a week or so after Holly was rescued in early December.  My piano tuner guy who is in over 80 years old was  tuning my piano (a yearly occurrence) a week after we rescued Holly. He loved the Holly rescue story as much as I loved telling him.  Imagine my surprise when I received a copy of this book in the mail from him.  How thoughtful!  Since I'm sad about the heat wave, I thought a Christmas themed book in July would be fun.

What are you knitting and reading?

  1. The cat book was a lovely gift from a dear man and it's a very appropriate read for July. I read a book called Winter during the summer months as it reminds me of how wonderful summer really is! :)

  2. And I thought I was the only one who juggled books like I juggle knitting projects!!! (of course, I should have guessed you would, too!!!!!) As you well know, my knitting mojo has been out to lunch, but I was thinking maybe I needed something a bit more challenging to lure him home. I was looking at Bolan and probably would have cast on except I'm not sure I love the only yarn I have enough of in the stash. (as if that's ever stopped me before!!!!) Have you ever stalked other people's 'favorites' on ravelry? I have. I always feel like a peeping Tom but I've gotten great ideas that way, too!!! Happy 4th!

  3. I currently have 4 WIPs and three books going! I am finding that I can read on my kindle and knit if the pattern is not complicated. Hope your back continues to heal.

  5. Reading is always and only blogs. Can't seem to be interesting in books right now. Knitting is afghan squares and soon baby sweaters! And then maybe I will start a sweater for me!!

  7. This is the third time I've heard of Louise Penny so I must check her out. I love your cowl. I have so many skeins of gorgeous sock yarn, so I'm thinking about starting (oh no another cast on) one soon. The blanket wool is gorgeous. I love that tweedy stuff.

  8. I love both of those knits. The yarn in that blanket is quite interesting and is really showcased by the simple pattern. I like the gradation of the yarn in the cowl. Glad your back is feeling better. Your reading looks very interesting.

  12. I am happy that your back is feeling better. I'm with a Mary, a Christmas book sounds delightful. That Holly is so cute. Your knitting looks so peaceful. Good luck looking for a new pattern - it is half the fun of a project.
