Weekends

Hello!  I was gone again for the weekend.  If you know me well, you know that I am exhausted from two weekends in a row with traveling.  This time we went to celebrate my dad's birthday (Happy Birthday Dad!).

We spent the day at his house for the afternoon in northern western Pennsylvania.  I walked about trying out all of my lenses with the Nikon.  I have a zoom lenses that is manually focused and apparently I need the auto function.  Oh well, the learning curve is always biggest when you begin something new.

We had a delicious dinner together where everyone brought a dish to share.  My dad cooked chicken on the open fire after a long marinating brine (I think that is what he said).

babies!
After saying our goodbyes once the festivities ended,  my husband and I spent Friday and Saturday night at my sister and brother in law's house.  Saturday, my sister and I shopped all morning long and had a lunch out.  My sister hosted the next dinner with more family coming over for a lovely visit.  I ate too much food this weekend!

Today, we left early in the morning and on the way home we stopped at State College to check our son's apartment and we installed his window air conditioner.  He will be returning to this area in three weeks.  I've been home since 2 pm and I'm playing catch up with all the chores.

sisters!!

I'm still pinning back my bangs in an attempt to grow them out.  I'm not sure how I feel about it.  The last time I grew out my bangs my daughter was 2 years old.  So it's been a while.

How was your weekend?

  1. It was lovely. I like the pic of you and your sister. I find it interesting that your dad cooked over an open fire. That's so cool. Mmm, I can smell the chicken cooking. If you want variety for your bangs, you can tease them a bit, twist them, pushing them forwards, and then pinning that twist down. Another way is to braid them, pin the end down, and then gently pull on the parts of the braid to make them bigger and fluffier.

  3. I love the sisters photo. It is fun to be with family and then it is fun to come home. We drove to Omaha this morning to have brunch with my sister and a cousin in town from Pittsburgh, Pa. I wish we had taken a photo of the three women. We did have fun chatting though.

  4. Sounds like a lovely way to spend the weekend. If you are like us you are learning to never take those times with loved ones for granted. We just never know. Loved the pictures of your dad...I've always wondered what he looked like. And always love seeing pictures of you and your sister. :) xx

  5. Rainy!!! LOL We dodged the raindrops for a little bit and hiked in Valley Forge.

I'm growing my bangs out too...... maybe we can give each other support so we don't do a desperate scissor moment one day.

  10. Sounds like a great weekend!
We had a really busy weekend, got a lot of work around the house done. It seems we're trying to cope with the delay in our plans to sell and move by taking on more things to do. But we're having fun, so that's good.

  12. We enjoyed a relaxing weekend, church yesterday and lunch afterwards with friends. This was between visits with our siblings, last week with DH's brother and upcoming here with my sister. BTW, if you've not been to the Ice Creamery at PSU, you need to go there ASAP!

  13. If you have to be out of your comfort zone being with your family makes everything more fun and enjoyable. Here's to a cozy, knitterly week at home!

  14. Not much accomplished since we had guests on Saturday, but Sunday I loafed and shopped and took it way too easy. Now I have to make up for lost time. LOL!

  17. I like long bangs, but you have great hair you have the luxury of wearing it either way!! Grow it out you can always cut them if they leave you unsatisfied!

I was chuckling when I read about 2 exhausting weekends. You did get some good stuff done though and saw your family :)

I love my weekends, but I was feeling the same way this morning. I got up to go to work and a list of things that needed to be done in the apartment before I left were not done last night. I guess the boys knew I would just do them in the morning? The thing is I had done them earlier yesterday, to find it ... undone.

Anyhow, we just got back from holiday and this weekend was packed. I had a friend's birthday cocktail party. We drove up to visit my husband's parents by the River on Sunday bringing some of my son's friends. Then yesterday my father drove out to pick us up in the city and then we all drove out to the coast to have lunch. I managed to do laundry and exercise, but let's just say I could use another Sunday ;)
