Weekends

glorious sunrise!
How was your weekend?  I hope pretty good, mine was wonderful.  First off, the weather has cooled off (finally).  I wore a jacket yesterday and today.  Autumn is trying its best to arrive, I welcome it!  The kids were here this weekend.  Our son arrived Friday night and we had a lovely meal together and for dessert apple pie.

Saturday morning we took Frodo for a walk since the weather was cool.  The leaves are dropping and the quietness of the woods soothed me.

Our daughter and son in law arrived Saturday afternoon and shortly after their arrival we went to the local fair.  We took in the sights and sounds.  We ate fair food which sadly made me feel unwell last night.  I told you the older I get the less I can tolerate.

sheep!  baa baa

Everyone left in stages today and my house is mostly put back together again.  I'm currently knitting my third cowl and hope to finish it soon.

How was your weekend?

  1. These posts are such a lovely, calm part of my Sunday nights. :-) I'm also suffering from fair food, but it was worth it at the time...

    Have a wonderful week!

  2. Such a shame the fair food upset you and yet I am sure it was good at the time. How wonderful to spend tie with your family. We had a quiet weekend and a wonderful stroll along the port wall watching the ever changing motion of the sea.

  3. I'm sorry about the food issue, it sounds like a wonderful weekend though ! Mine was good, too. Spent Saturday volunteering at the pet shelter and Sunday did a quick visit to my brother and SIL, where my parents were too, at the afternoon. For the rest I kept it quiet, had a little cold, and it seems that one of my pets got it too, now...

  4. Your weekend looks like lovely scenes of fall. Mine was full of family gathering and now the week is off to a busy one with lots of travel. I wish I wasn't always the driver so I could get in some car knitting time!

  5. Oh the fair! I have not been there since our sons lived at home. At least the weather was cooler. I remember many a fair when it was hot and humid.

  6. Lovely fall scenes, Karen! It seems that fall flipped the switch and turned off summer. I was happily in a sweater all weekend long! Ahhhh! Have a good week!

  7. Well that does sound like a good weekend! Mine was quiet, but since I am still trying to knock this cold, that's fine with me!

  8. I had the chance to getaway to a knitters retreat weekend. I love being there the first day and knitting and laughing with my friends, but the second day it's hard to stay in the moment as I just want to go home. :)

  9. Sounds like a lovely weekend Karen (minus the fair food!!). And yes, Fall has arrived...though we are still soggy with rain on and off all day, every day! I was busy all weekend, but good stuff and I was wearing jeans and a flannel shirt!

  10. My weekend was a busy one, but all of it was good! Best of all was that my family took me out to dinner in Champaign at a wonderful place where I definitely ate too much! A spiced pear daiquiri, a most delicious dish of shrimp & grits, and birthday cake! It was all so good, but I was sluggish at the gym this morning!

  12. I love your purple cowl! The stitches are even and lovely . Our weekend was great because Zach was here for the first time since he moved to Chicago in August. He was not ready to go back ! I spoil him rotten and I love to do so. We had awesome weather: sunny 70 no humidity. The hummingbirds are still here! The moon rose beautifully last night

  13. Our state fair starts this coming weekend. I can't wait to feel ill from fair food. It's part of the tradition. :) I love the cowls you've been knitting. I've downloaded the pattern but need to take a closer look to see what kind of yarns I'll need. Thanks again for the pattern recommendation.
