Weekends

cowl getting bigger, yay!

Are you ready for the holidays?  I am, truly.  I finished a few days ago and I'm still looking at the list of things to do before everyone arrives here.  I'm still feeling rotten from the sinus infection.  Each day I feel better but I want instantaneous improvement!

I will never be patient and I have no time to be ill.  Yesterday I relaxed and knitted and my body said 'thank you' to me by feeling better.  This time of the year is so busy with tasks.  But then is there ever a convenient time to be ill?  I don't think so.

Feeling rotten makes me appreciate all the days I feel great though.  And I can knit so there's that.

Our son is already here for Christmas, he returned from Italy with my husband.  He came down with a terrible head cold the next day (probably caught on the germ filled airplane).  He's feeling better and so far no one else has that virus... yet.

Our daughter and son in law arrive later this week and we will have a second Christmas.

Today I did laundry and made a major decision on a project that has been in time out since the summer.  This blanket wasn't turning out nice enough for me to continue.  The yarn is an acrylic blend and therefore impossible to block to show the pattern.  The flecked yarn is too busy for the pattern as well.

I will probably start a simple knit four purl four block (or six by six?).  Something that will lay flat and be in harmony with the flecks.  I'm happy that I'm frogging this blanket.  Putting projects in time out gives me lots of time to mull over what exactly I'm not happy about and how to fix it.

I wish you a Merry Christmas to all of you that celebrate.  Happy Holidays to everyone!  Thank you for reading my blog, visiting here, commenting (or not commenting and just reading).  Your continuing friendship means so much to me.

How was your weekend?

Comments

  1. I hope you feel better, your son also, and nobody shares their germs with anyone else. My weekend was spent doing those last few details, and trying to do some selfish knitting. I had needle issues (wrong size and cables too long) but hopefully I can resolve that after Christmas and get started on a Sockhead Cowl. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

  3. Oh feel better soon. Your home looks very festive. Enjoy a wonderful Christmas with your family. I made a decision about some deep stash yarn today that makes me feel relieved. It reminds me of your decision after having the blanket in time out. I have tried to knit with this yarn twice and you know what? I just don't want to knit with it. I went for a walk and decided there is nothing wrong with finding 3 skeins of yarn another home.

  9. I'm sorry you're having to frog your blanket but at the same time, I'm so happy that you are. I'd hate to see you put so much effort into a pattern that didn't show up. I think your new idea will work out much better. Hope you (and the family) are feeling better soon. Merry Christmas!

  13. Hope you are well enough to enjoy your family. I am getting a hint that I need to do more resting and less running around for a bit. It’s a good thing to listen to our bodies. Merry Christmas!
