Weekends

This weekend we went out and bought a new family room set.  Yup.  We like to go to the same family owned furniture store and walk around and pick something.  Our set is over 10 years old and my back issues are more than likely caused by the current state of our old couch and loveseat.  I'll confess that buying furniture is a ton more fun than buying a new heating/cooling system.

Being the crazy person that I am, I vacuumed under the cushions for when they take away this set.  Lucky me found a knitting cable needle but I didn't find any money though.

Our new furniture arrives on Tuesday - I cannot wait!

How was your weekend?  Mine was super sunny.  Because of the bright sunshine we went for a walk this morning.  The sun adds warmth on these chilly February days.  I looked for signs of spring and so far it's a little too early for snowdrops.  However, I hear the birds singing and their music has been missed.  Before you know it the robins will return.

We attended Saturday night Mass and then of course picked up pizza on the way home.  You know I finished my sweater, well, I did the official photo shoot today and will be sharing them on Wednesday's post.  The photo below gives you a peek at the finished sweater.

big old dead leaf that looks like a bird in a way
I'm writing this earlier in the afternoon and my husband is in the kitchen cooking curry.  So you know what that means, I am not cooking today and at least one or two other days this week because of massive amount of left overs.  More knitting time and reading time for me!

How was your weekend?

  1. Love furniture shopping. Probably because it us not done often. The peak of your sweater was fun. Looking forward to the photo shoot. Hooray for husbands that cook. Mine is a grill master which makes me happy.

  2. My weekend was sewing and knitting and taking it easy. I can't imagine buying a new living room set. Ours is a huge sectional with an equally huge ottoman. When we can't get to sleep in our bed we go out to the couch and fall asleep instantly. Hubster said we should just move the couch into our bedroom and buy new living room furniture! LOL

  3. The first half of my weekend was very social. We had friends and family over for Shabbat on Friday. I went to Torah study on Saturday morning and then I hung out with another friend at the hospital -- the victim of ice hidden by snow. Today we were snowed in and did little other than knit and quilt. Life is good until Monday morning!

  4. I don't enjoy furniture shopping (or really any kind of shopping except for yarn and books!) but I'm glad you found something you like and you and your husband could agree on. I hope it's comfortable and good on your back. We also had a sunny weekend so I took some nice walks, but this afternoon got cloudy and now we're waiting for more snow and ice this week.

  5. We had a cold snowy weekend but it was nice to be tucked indoors. My husband is recovering from a nasty bug so we stayed close to home. The right furniture can make a difference for our backs so I am glad you found something. I'll be anxious to see your sweater.

  6. New furniture! How exciting. We keep hoping to get out to look for some too, but house repairs are keeping us in the "poor house" for now. No new shopping for us. Well, at least for the time being.

Looking forward to Wednesday and seeing your sweater in full view.

  9. Your weekend sounds delightful, Karen! Furniture shopping is great fun! We did it about 18 months ago for a brand new kitchen table and chairs...not from the auction! It had to be ordered and when it arrived I was like a kid with a new toy! I know how excited you must be for tomorrow to come so your sofa and loveseat can be delivered!

Loved the peek at your sweater...now I can't wait for Wednesday to see the whole thing! xx

  12. Sounds like you had a fun weekend! We were finally able to get out and went over to our daughter's to see the GK on Saturday, and then yesterday our choir sang what we'd planned to sing last Sunday but didn't because of the snow. In fact we were snowbound for almost a week which is pretty unusual around here. Few plows and lots of hills make a snowy disaster!
