Weather Ennui

Golly is it dreary outside as I type this blog post.  March is such a fickle month, it's not quite winter and it's not truly spring.  I am ready for slightly warmer sunnier weather.  Everyone I talk to is whining about the weather (maybe I start the whining?).  Everyone is itching for spring, for coatless freedom.

The preschooler (well almost preschooler!) is super sassy and makes for a babysitting day a challenging day for me.  I know every month she is growing and this is a phase that won't last forever but I wonder how I did it with my two children.  We both know that the terrible twos is coined that phrase for a reason.  At the end of a babysitting day, I am beat!

My son used to lay down and scream his head off in public all the time.  I must have been battle weary, right?  The thing about aging is that memories are softened around the edges and well, I don't remember my frustration or my annoyance.  Time erases facts and replaces fond feelings.

I'm looking forward to boundless blue skies, walking with the little girl and getting all the wiggles out.  Breathing in fresh air and wearing a light jacket instead of a winter coat.  I'm eagerly awaiting some green foliage as well.

spring!
In my yard the daffodils are sprouting.  On my walk in the neighborhood, the snowdrops are blooming.

spring!

The little girl lives near a deer farm and we walk to say 'hello' to them.  If we walk the opposite way there is a cow farm.  So far, the cows haven't been out in the pasture yet but when they are, we will be walking to them to say 'hello' as well.  I do love living in rural PA.

I'm trying to find a pattern for the messy skein so I have something for my 'adventure' over the weekend.  Hopefully, I'll make my decision soon and I'll remember to take photos of my upcoming adventure.

As promised, the winner of the giveway is:

two cables n' a frapp

Congratulations!  I will notify knotions magazine and you should receive your pdf ebook on your ravelry account soon.

  1. Oh boy, I know JUST what you mean about toddler energy! It is so good to be able to get outside and run off some of it.

  2. I hear you about those terrible twos that can spill into the threes! I can remember telling my kids that "mommy needed a time out" many a day. My middle daughter was an expert at temper tantrums. And, it seems her daughter has inherited this trait... I promise I do not laugh when she calls me in frustration! But, I might when I hang up!

  4. Puppies wear me out. I can't imagine caring for a toddler! You're invincible in my eyes. I am SO ready for the weather to improve. The crocus and snowdrops and daffodils are very welcome, but I wish there was a little more sun to brighten their return. Mylo does, too!

  5. Weather whining is as bad as the terrible twos!

  6. I'm sorry that your babysitting days are such a challenge and wearing you out right now. Neither of our kids went through the terrible two stage but boy, oh boy, did they ever make up for it with the horrible threes! Their growing spurts always seemed to be on the odd numbered years rather than the even.

    Have a lovely adventure!

  9. I think you are right the memories are softened around the edges as time goes by. The Grandchildren now remind me of how tiring raising children are. Have a wonderful weekend.

  10. Oh those preschoolers. You are so right that are memories are softened and tinged with lots of love. We had a beautiful 66 degrees today with little wind. God was smiling on us.

  11. I like how you're able to take her out to get her wiggles out. It's cute to see a little's endless energy and curiosity. I bet you're tired. I was lucky and didn't have kids that threw tantrums out in public; the oldest did rebel in ballet class once at the Jewish Community Center, LOL.

  13. I hope you have some nice photos from your adventure to share. So many times I get home only to realize I forgot to take any. I’m trying to get better about not doing that.

  14. Wait, there are deer farms?? Why? That's like tick farming. Just, why?
Toddler temper tantrums are such a joy to deal with. (Said VERY sarcastically!) My son only threw 1 serious tantrum out in public. We were at the mall & he threw himself on the floor & proceeded to flop around while yelling, screaming and crying. I was Mortified! I went and sat on a nearby bench and pretended I didn't know him. As soon as he realized I wasn't standing over him being mortified, he got up, walked over to me, wiped his eyes and we got on with the day. He never tried that again. Now my daughter... Thankfully she wasn't a flop around on the floor kind of tantrum thrower, she just enjoyed slamming doors. She spent a Lot of her childhood without a bedroom door. Good luck to you. It will be warm, sunny weather before you know it.

  15. If it makes you feel better I have a very sassy 7 year old here. He actually got in trouble at school for saying no way too many times in a day. I think his teacher was a bit dramatic about the whole thing, but it was the first day back from spring break and I bet all the kids, not just my sassy one were tired and a bit off. Have a wonderful week.
