Weekends (NYC)

How was your weekend?

My weekend was stuffed with walking!  We went to NYC for the day on a bus.  I'm not sure I'd do a bus again, but hey we got to NYC and back so there is that!

We arrived in the city near Macy's Department store around 9:30 am and left around 8 pm.  We focused on walking the High Line, Chelsea and Greenwich Village.  It was bitterly windy and cold for most of the morning but that didn't stop us.  We had great fun until around 5 pm when our bodies betrayed us from all the walking.  We walked 10 miles yesterday (crazy!!).  I'm sore from head to toe today.  Sadly, whenever I over do it my joints go wacko---it's a RA thing.  After today's rest, I will be back to normal.

I've linked websites the best I could to what we saw or did with the photos below.

E.A.K. Ramen (highly recommend!)

We also visited many bookstores including the Strand

When we arrived in the city in the morning, we were daydreaming on what it would be like to live in a city with all the various places to eat and things to do.  By the afternoon, we thought one month living in the city would be a great experience.  On the ride home on the bus, we couldn't wait to get back to our rural slow quiet life.  We felt all the feels in one day.  What a blast!

How was your weekend?

  1. NYC is my favorite ... I'm really jealous you live "just a bus-ride" away (curious what your door to door times were?!) So glad you had blue skies for all the sights!

  2. Nice ! I dislike bus rides too but after you've rested you'll know it was worth it. I have wished I was raised in New York Instead of the misweater many times. Perhaps in my next life.
    Great photos by the way.

  3. Lots of walking too, but ours was on the Delaware River canal trail and was only 4-1/2 miles.

Your photos are spectacular. Glad you had such a good time. (I used to work on 31st right behind the Macy's (Herald Square).

  6. What a wonderful tour you took us on. I like the buzz of City life for a few hours but then I am always glad to get back to rural/Island life.

  7. I'm not sure I'd want to live in NYC, but I think you spent a great day there! All of those murals are lovely and inspiring and the Highline is interesting even in winter. Rest up!

  10. What a great way to go to the City. I'm not a fan of buses...but no driving would be great. I've done the train to NYC and that's a good way to do it too. Looks like you had an awesome time and saw so many wonderful murals, etc. Our local township does do bus trips to NYC fairly often and I know Fletch has done that a few times. We may need to look into it again. Rest up!!! 10 miles is a lot.

  13. What a very fun day you and your husband had on your visit to NYC! Thank you for sharing snippets of it with us. I hope that you are all rested up now and the joints are doing better. xo

  14. I like seeing photos of you and your husband; I think it's cute how you take selfies. Don't be hard on yourself. Ten miles is a heck of a lot of walking. My hip joints, thighs, and legs are sore from just running on the treadmill for 15 minutes.

  15. Well first off, what shoes were you wearing? Fireman and I hiked 6 miles in Oklahoma Preserve in 3 hours straight. We ARE STILL TIRED and it is 5 days later. Contemplating our next trip . I need new hiking shoes. I want to go to New York and honor the 9/11 Memorial
