Knitting News

 
The baby blanket is coming along nicely, ideally I'd like the final measurements to be 36 inches by 36 inches.  However, I'm also gauging (guessing!) on my yarn amounts and definitely do not want to run out of any given color so I keep squeezing my blue and purple skeins that I'm alternating in the middle to decide when to start decreasing.  I do love a challenge.


My banana leaf shawl is a delight to knit and pairs well with audio podcasts.  I cannot read and knit with this project.  If I wasn't working on the baby blanket at night during tv time, I'd be working on this project instead.


I had high hopes of finishing this cowl over the weekend and that didn't happen due to living life.  Yesterday I added the next section and see the finish line!

    All of your projects are beautiful. The banana leaf shawl looks like an interesting pattern and the shade of yarn you have chosen is beautiful. The baby blanket is gorgeous as well - love the colors. And, of course, the cowl is wonderful.

    That shawl look so wonderful! And I love the color changes on the baby blanket. I can relate to the squeezing, but I usually have too much yarn left.

    I really like how your baby blanket is knitting up so far. I knitted two rows of my Purlbreak yesterday. I need to work on a post of the kittens right now.

    Your banana leaf shawl is really neat. I love the start! Im reading blogs and I'm going to knit a skirt for allison as a surprise. I'm also listening to the Cubs play on Tv or radio!

    The color in the banana leaf shawl is so pretty. I'll be anxious to see how the yarn amounts cooperate with your baby blanket. I cast on a scrappy shawl or one from leftover yarns - lots of soothing garter stitch and a pair of Kindling fingerless mitts for my DIL for Christmas. I need a small carry around project so perhaps a hat out of odds and ends to donate to charity. Have a good rest of the week.

My weekend happily contained: -wearing the above woolens all at the same time without being hot -so many walks and taking in the changing leaves. -a leaf shower on Saturday-the wind swirled the leaves off the trees up in the air to float down -changing screen savers to autumn themes! -a craft fair where my husband and I say "we could make that", but we don't. -french fries at the craft fair -scrambled eggs and toast for dinner because we were lazy. -football season has descended in my house. he was in the front room watching whatever is on today -I sat in the family room and watched A Tree Grows in Brooklyn .   Now I want to read it again. -Oh! Hopefulness

  Good morning! This week has been busy with classes and routine doctor appointments. The arthritis doctor has a few tricks up her sleeve for some of my dry mouth issues (from my autoimmune disease - Sjorgren's Syndrome) that make me feel hopeful. What was the most important thing during that doctor visit is that I felt seen and heard. I am thankful for her and her team. Speaking of hopefulness, look at my daffodils sprouting up! Some of the daffodils are just starting and some already have a head start. I love winter, but I'm looking forward to spring. The crocuses seem to be taking their time this year, as well as the snowdrops (unless those pesky deer have eaten them, grr). Even though I am still knitting my baby blanket, I have gathered four skeins of potential socks to be and am dreaming of a wonderful sock frenzy cast on.

New Year

  Good morning! How are you? Happy New Year, may this year be full of blessings to all of you. Well now, I finally have an empty home after having our son, daughter in law, grandson and granddaughter here for six nights.  I am still experiencing fatigue and symptoms from the virus even though I am feeling better. It was a challenge hosting family while recovering. Also we babysat the kids overnight (!!) while my son and daughter in law went for little getaway. I am thankful and grateful my Aunt came over both days to help out with the granddaughter who never sleeps during the day. (snack-naps do not count!). They all left early in the morning, and while I was tired, sleep deprived and fatigued, I put away Christmas plus all the toys and doodads you need for babies. Today I am looking at a squeaky clean house. I am planning on reading books and falling asleep while doing so! My exercise routine is on hold as I slowly get better. Maybe next week I can muster up some energy for some yoga
