Home Again

dad's house

Gosh, this week was crazy busy.  On Wednesday, we helped our son and future daughter in law for the first leg of the journey to relocate to Indiana.  My husband drove the moving van (no cruise control) and I followed him (I too wasn't able to use cruise control because of him).  The GPS took us through downtown Pittsburgh through both sets of tunnels.  I was stressed out.

Thankfully we safely arrived in southeastern Ohio to her parents house.  Yesterday her parents did the drive to Indiana and unloaded the truck.  I was lucky in that the truck was all packed and ready to go when we arrived at State College.

Prior to helping them on Wednesday I had a tele-med visit with the kidney doctor.  She is changing my blood pressure medicine due to certain side effects that I mentioned. Already today I feel a bit better.  Hopefully I will see her in person in three months from now.  I guess it's all about protecting the kidneys based on what I have researched.  She is wonderful and I like her a lot.

Wednesday night we stayed at a hotel and it was immaculate!  I was thrilled at all of the precautions that the staff implemented. I wish my house was as clean as the hotel.

Yesterday morning we left to visit my dad on the way home (he is not on the way home, but a detour to visit was nice since I haven't seen him since Thanksgiving).  We had a fantastic lunch on the back porch and a nice break from all of the driving.  I am thrilled to be HOME.

My sister left at my dad's house one of her languishing knitting projects for me to finish.  It is a featherweight cardigan.   I love miles of stockinette knitting and she will benefit with a completed sweater.

  1. I love all the family coordination and cooperation — driving the moving van, her parents helping out, visiting your dad, and your sister's sweater hand-off! I wish your son and his fiancee well in Indiana, and hope you get to stay home and recover a bit.

    Enjoy your new knitting project.

I'm in the middle of changing prescriptions too ..............only been 48 hrs. So we'll see how this goes. Good luck with your changes.

    1. P.S. those tunnels in Pittsburgh! I hated them when Colin and Mailing were living out there. The driving out there made me crazy!

  11. You were so lovely to help with the moving, at least one leg of it. We have a lot of moving here in our future with my two boys. Hope you Dad is doing well and good luck with the medication change. Stay safe.

  12. Oh I'm so glad y'all were able to help out AND be safe with the kids' move. and a visit with your dad must've been extra special. enjoy all that stockinette :-) I've embarked on a stockinette project too ... but the yoke requires lots of attention and I'm happy I have my 3rd crocheted afghan to fill in the blanks when I don't have any attention to spare.

  14. Well that was quite an adventure. I bet coordinating it all was a feat but well done. Your son and daughter-in-law are going to tell this story for a long time. I'm glad you traveled safely and are back home. Family connections are the best.

  16. I love how you and your future, daughter-in-law's parents shared in the moving experience. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets stressed out with driving to somewhere I don't know the way to. I always give myself an extra 20 minutes because I know I'll probably get lost a bit.
