Notebooks and Knitting

Good morning!  How are you doing on this fine Friday?  We are wishing and hoping for some rain but who knows what will happen.  It spritzed a minute yesterday and that added nothing to the low pool level.  Did you notice my first photo?  FALL - it's coming maybe not tomorrow but the signs are there for all to see.

Mr. newly retired has been biking nearly every day and has been making upgrades to one of his bikes.  Overall he is glad to be retired.  If you are wondering if I started his list of things to do around here, you can be assured that indeed we sat down and formulated some must do tasks.

His office boxes are in our garage and they need to be put away somewhere here.  I have many ideas of additional storage space but first we need to clean out the garage.  It's been a long time.

Our retaining wall has continued to look great and the grass has mostly filled in.  The landscaper is coming to drop off some more topsoil  for one section of our lawn that was washed away by some crazy rainstorm right when they finished the job.

I selected a notebook system and have been blissfully setting it up all week.  It's mostly a creativity journal of sorts.  I will not be keeping track of appointments, food, exercise or menu planning, I have a pocket planner for that.  This notebook has three sections, a monthly outlook, a grid notebook for lists and goals for knitting, watercoloring and overall creative pursuits.  The last section will be an art journal with mixed media.  I still have more setting up to do.

The wedding shawl continues to be my utmost favorite knitting project that is in my basket.  Over the weekend,  I'll be writing out my knitting goals (in my notebook) for holiday knitting and knitting for me.  I have some babies to knit for as well.  It's going to be a busy fall season.

  1. You are so organized with your notebooks! I have started notebooks with good intentions, but you know the saying about good intentions. I wish we could send you some rain. We got loads during the last hurricane and it looks like Laura will be bringing us more tomorrow.

  2. I'm with you, yesterday I took a picture of a tree where the leaves were changing color, oh thank the Lord! And, I wish we would get some rain here, we continue to be dry, hot and windy! Love the new notebook, wish I was organized enough to use one, but then again I would have to remember where I laid it down last, too!!

  4. Your notebook looks cool, but like others, that's too organized for me. I guess I fly by the set of my pants - lol. Glad your husband is enjoying retirement. And the wedding shawl is simply beautiful!

  5. I would happily give you some of our rain. It storms even when 100% sun is predicted and tomorrow we should be seeing the reminents of Laura.
Love your notebook system. I used to use a travelers notebook and loved it but it was really a little too small for my needs. I like to keep everything in one place.

  6. I love the notebook idea, but I know that I would rarely open them. Sort of like my lists. They get made, but unless they are short, the neither get looked at or followed. Short lists every couple of days get completed.....sometimes.

  7. Is that a quilt the bike is resting on? Gulp!

    1. Sadly that beautiful quilt has a huge hole in the middle (18+ inches) from a previous beloved dog who was extraordinarily bored one day. I could not figure out a way to fix it and have it look like the rest of the quilt...now it has become the garage quilt!

  9. I love your notebook...I use a notebook...but it's pretty jumbled...I should get more organized (and prettier) with it...

  10. It seems like rainfall is feast or famine in this country. We have had a hot dry spell and could also use rain. We may get some next week -midweek. Your wedding shawl is like all your other shawls - gorgeous. I have never added beads to a shawl but they seem perfect for a wedding shawl. Enjoy setting up your notebooks.
