This and That

My husband celebrated his birthday this past week, it was a quiet affair. However there was a cheesecake slice (or two) for him and I bought ONE donut from the grocery store. I haven't had a donut for over a year. Lots of family called and wished him a 'happy birthday'. It was a nice day.

Last year I skipped decorating for Easter, I wasn't in the mood. This year I thought 'why not?'. Miss Holly loves to fish out an egg or two from the vase and bat them around the house. She is sneaky about it and sometimes I have to search around the house looking for the missing ones. (there is one missing as I sit and type this post)

On one of our walks I heard a robin! What a welcoming sound to hear. I'm witnessing every day the soft signs of winter leaving and spring pushing its way in. It begins with more daylight, birds singing and the melting of all that snow.

Frodo has decided that Spring has already sprung. He keeps trying to sit on his back yard stoop to survey his lands, only to come rushing in to sit beside me because he's too cold. The brilliant sunshine is throwing him off on how warm or cold it actually is. The forecast for next week will be over 50 degrees! Maybe the snow will be melted by then? Maybe we could grab a bagel sandwich and eat outside again? The possibilities are endless and I'm giddy thinking about them.

I've been journaling a lot these weeks and there seems no end in sight. I printed that photo above with a sprocket printer - the little photos are actually stickers and they add pizzazz to a journaling page. I continue to watercolor my daily haiku sketch illustrations. I also journal about memories or random thoughts.

I hope where ever you are you have sunshine and happiness. Thanks for visiting!

  4. I love that Holly gets an Easter egg out of the vase and hides it for you! It's sunny here but windy and cold. I'm looking forward to more daylight, sun, and warmth in the coming weeks.

  6. Thanks for getting back to me! Gosh, I can't remember when I last had a donut but cookies...that's another thing. Long ago the kids couldn't find one of the hidden Easter eggs, and it turned up a year later in the pocket of the teddy bear who sits in the little rocking chair. Strangely that crazy egg then exploded while sitting on our kitchen counter! Go figure.

  9. I think I'm a bit in denial that we will have two Easters in quarantine. and we will. and He will. still. Holly is not so great and that's been hard these days. I am grateful for the easy knitting. and spring.

  10. You remind me to look in my bin of Easter decor. I did put an Easter Egg on my front door. Wishing that some of our warm weather moves East and lands on your doorstep. There are a few small piles of dirty snow left but as I walk I notice most of it is gone. I love the peeks at your creative journaling.

  11. The sun is very deceiving about the temperature, I am just thankful for the sun here here which lifts our spirits. Always a joy to glimpse your journal and your knitting project. It is Mothers day here in the UK next weekend, after that an effort will be made with a little Easter decor.

  12. Hope hubby had a great birthday....It's this year I'm having trouble getting in the Easter decorating mood. Our whole house is torn apart with a project that began as 'replacing a couple broken panes of glass' to reglazing all the windows...almost done, now the painter has to come....and in the meantime, the electrician came to add more light to the kitchen. I can't find a clean surface anywhere!!!!!!!

  13. Happy late birthday to your husband. I think every celebration is quiet this past year, or at least it should be. Happy creating and stay safe.

  16. How fun for Holly. Minnie gets bored around here and likes to sit on our dining room table to survey her space.
