Weekends

Grab a cup of coffee or tea, this is the extended weekends version of my life. On Friday we drove to Cambridge MA to visit our daughter and son in law. We were in the car for eleven hours because of a highway road closure and the GPS snaking us through the countryside of Pennsylvania. I was so tired of being a car!

We arrived safely at our hotel and checked in, quickly dropping off our bags. We had pizza and homemade apple cake at their house. Delicious!!

Saturday we walked over 20,000 steps and my arthritis symptoms acted up. Flares are just awful and they sneak up on me. Each time I think there's something wrong but cannot quite figure it out. We were all over the greater Boston Area doing some shopping and sight-seeing. I didn't take many photos, I was living in the moment.

We toured three churches (cannot recall any of their names...).

Sunday after attending Mass we had some donuts for second breakfast then did more sight-seeing. Our son in law drove us around which helped with my arthritis flare significantly.

We drove home on Monday (10 1/2 hours!!) and now I'm playing the catch up game on the internet, the blogs, the bills and the grocery shopping that needs attending to today (we have nothing to eat!). I hope you had a wonderful weekend and I will do my best to visit your blogs today and tomorrow!

  1. I'm sorry about the time in the car, your symptoms, and catch-up but it does look like a lovely weekend. What a beautiful church! (Enjoy your time at home this week.)

  2. Sounds like a wonderful time (minus the arthritis flare). Those blue skies were beautiful and I'll bet it was nice and cool. Hope you are feeling better. Mine flared up this week too. I think humidity bothers mine.

  3. Those darn flares come at the most inconvenient times, don't they. But what a lovely trip. I love visiting churches. Their architecture is always a marvel to me. And the insides amaze me with their beauty. Do you knit while on a car trip?

  5. Enjoyed seeing your travel photos! Sure hope your knee is feeling better now. 20,000 steps is amazing! I feel lucky to get over 10, 000. We do go up and down hills in our area though.

  8. I am sorry about the arthritis flare. No fun at all. I am glad you had time with your daughter and son-in-law. Take the catch-up a little at a time. Rest and recover, the blogs will wait until you have time.

  9. Driving to the Boston area is rarely easy from Long Island also, but 10 - 11 hours is way too much. I am sorry you had an arthritis flare. I hope it settles soon and you feel better. I am glad you got to see a bunch of the Cambridge area and enjoy time with your daughter and son in law. My daughter and son in law live just southwest of Boston. I know the area well.

  10. That is a long drive each way! I am sorry to hear that you have had an arthritis flare that sounds very painful, I do hope it has calmed down a little for you now. Your weekend sounds lovely and worth the very long drive. That is a lot of knitting time ;)
