Weekends

How was your weekend?

Mine was pretty nice overall. My husband and I went to a garden center for ONE pumpkin for the front door and ONE mum to be planted in the front yard. Last year we bought three mums and none of them survived. I have no idea why, but also those pesky deer nibble them as well. So why invest in them if they will be disappearing?

The weather continues to be gloriously lovely. Definitely cool days and sometimes drizzly like yesterday. We took a walk in the drizzle mist and gosh it was refreshing. Even Frodo loved it. I love this in between weather!

I did not take a photo of my manic gnome making for the holidays. I have tons of worsted weight wool scraps and I'm just winging it as I go. What fun! Kat has made many beautiful gnomes! I have dreams of depleting the scrap bag.....let's see if that dream becomes reality.

How was your weekend?

  1. We had a nice weekend here as well. I love your drawing of the sunflower. Do you also compose music? I hope you have a great week. See you again soon!

  2. We had a rainy, dreary weekend but we need the rain and I got to stay inside and read!

  3. RAINY! Oh my gosh, SO rainy. I was on cat duty for two friends. THAT part of the weekend was quite enjoyable. Lots of knitting. Lots of tea drinking. Lots of football watching. Good weekend. Colors not quite changing so much here, but I bet they will be soon.

  5. Oh my. Your fall foliage is beautiful. Our temps are finally below 100 with the mornings being in the 70s. This is a joy for us where we live. Those pesky deer need to eat the weeds not the flowers lol. Do you carve your pumpkin?

  6. I really want to get fall flowers and pumpkins but I am headed out of town so I will wait a bit. It’s been very warm here and would be sad to see things wilted when I return. Your photos are just lovely.

  7. Beautiful flowers and thanks so much for linking to the gnome pattern. I just purchased it and can't wait to get started.

  8. I love the only one pumpkin and one mum. My eldest is like that with his fruit. He will request 3 strawberry, 5 blueberries and so on so forth while the younger one just grabs the box and eats to his heart's content.
Our weekend was completely washed out.. it started raining Friday even and still hasn't stopped.

  9. Our weekend was full of baseball, a little lacrosse, and enjoying the beautiful weather. We still have beds full of vinca and begonias ... no more mums for us (bah, deer!) but thankfully my neighbors still have them in pots, so I can enjoy them.

  10. Beautiful flowers. Enjoy your gnome making. Working with scraps is so satisfying. I have a bag of DK scraps that I want to use for charity hats for kids. I have a feeling that is going to be a winter - like January - project. Friday night we had dinner with my brother-in-law and his wife. Very pleasant. The weather is very fall-ish but alas no rain.
