Weekends

I had a busy weekend but a very good kind of busy. My sister had a fall craft show at her house and I was there keeping her company while her friends came and perused her items. I saw family members and had a great time all together.

Yesterday, we all went to the conservatory in Pittsburgh for the fall flower show. I love how creative they are in creating displays and arranging the flowers. We had such a great time!

On a whim, my husband and I started shopping for a new fridge and dishwasher. All of the appliances that came with the house are VERY old. We will be hosting Thanksgiving and will have a full house with our kids and grandkids. A new dishwasher will help immensely because my current one can only do dishes (no pots, pans, trays etc...). Just the thought of running a dishwasher multiple times a day warms my heart (and to know they are CLEAN).

I just plainly hate our current fridge. It's old and inefficient.

How was your weekend?

  2. Those conservatory photos are lovely! I hope you find new, improved, and affordable appliances. I like doing dishes by hand, but not for a whole Thanksgiving dinner!

  3. A flower show is always fun. Appliance shopping not so much. So, did you purchase any appliances?

  4. The Phipps looks beautiful. Did the Cider Mill actually serve cider? The last photo is a very interesting leaf. Sounds like you had a great weekend.

  5. I was so happy when I got my new dishwasher a few years ago and I know exactly how you feel. My new one can do a whole load in 2 hours! and it is relatively silent.....I love it. I am still waiting for a new fridge though....mine is from 1997 and is so small but my husband says it hasn't died yet so when it does, then I can get whatever I want....Ha

  6. The conservatory looks beautiful. What does your sister make? Good look on appliance shopping. It's a pain but will be worth it in the end.

  7. What a nice weekend. I think you are wise to shop now for appliances. Old ones are bound to go out and if the dishwasher isn't working better to replace before you have a houseful of company and a kitchen full of cooking dishes.

  9. I love the photos from your visit to the conservatory, and really resonate with your words about some new appliances. MOVE ON THOSE now, Karen! you will never regret investing in a good dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, or refrigerator. especially at Thanksgiving. with a houseful that includes little ones!
