Good morning! How was your weekend?

Mine was pretty good! Whatever allergy thing I was was suffering with for almost a week seems to be almost over. However, when I take Frodo for a walk this morning, I'm sure it will start all over again.

We didn't do much this weekend. He worked on the finishing touches of the deck flooring and I did a lot of laundry and started to clean the house. Today I'll finish up what I didn't get done yesterday. Even though it rained over the weekend, I rather enjoyed it.

My sister and I went out to a farmer's market on Saturday morning. We bought 'salad turnips' which tasted really good! She's going to grow some in her garden this year because of our adventurous purchase. I do love new things to put in a salad.

My knitting remains the same: a pair of socks for my husband and a lace scarf. Both are doing okay.

Sunday morning we went to Mass and had taco salad for dinner.

    What a pretty tree! I love turnips (hard them as a kid), but I've never heard of salad turnips. I bet they are delish!! My weekend was a good mix of some chores, some knitting, some reading, some stitching and seeing family.

    I'm not familiar with salad turnips but they do sound interesting! Those trees are lovely and fingers crossed that your allergies are decreasing.

    It seems that we are all suffering from either allergies or colds. I can't decide what mine is as I feel fine during the day, but not in the morning or at night. Your blooming trees are very pretty. I have never heard of salad turnips. Our weekend was cool, cloudy and rainy. Good for indoor pursuits.

    Are salad turnips different from turnips? That tree photo is so pretty. Yum, taco salad. One of our favorites

    I'm so glad you had an enjoyable weekend, Karen. Your pictures are beautiful. Is the last picture a Bleeding Heart or is it Solomon's Seal? I can't quite tell.

    Oh my allergies have been awful as well.. just finally started to get better.
    Didn't know there were salad turnips.. are they smaller in size?

    I've never heard of salad turnips but now I am curious. The tree is beautiful. Quiet weekend around here, I was in recovery mode.

New Year

  Good morning! How are you? Happy New Year, may this year be full of blessings to all of you. Well now, I finally have an empty home after having our son, daughter in law, grandson and granddaughter here for six nights.  I am still experiencing fatigue and symptoms from the virus even though I am feeling better. It was a challenge hosting family while recovering. Also we babysat the kids overnight (!!) while my son and daughter in law went for little getaway. I am thankful and grateful my Aunt came over both days to help out with the granddaughter who never sleeps during the day. (snack-naps do not count!). They all left early in the morning, and while I was tired, sleep deprived and fatigued, I put away Christmas plus all the toys and doodads you need for babies. Today I am looking at a squeaky clean house. I am planning on reading books and falling asleep while doing so! My exercise routine is on hold as I slowly get better. Maybe next week I can muster up some energy for some yoga

Hopefulness

  Good morning! This week has been busy with classes and routine doctor appointments. The arthritis doctor has a few tricks up her sleeve for some of my dry mouth issues (from my autoimmune disease - Sjorgren's Syndrome) that make me feel hopeful. What was the most important thing during that doctor visit is that I felt seen and heard. I am thankful for her and her team. Speaking of hopefulness, look at my daffodils sprouting up! Some of the daffodils are just starting and some already have a head start. I love winter, but I'm looking forward to spring. The crocuses seem to be taking their time this year, as well as the snowdrops (unless those pesky deer have eaten them, grr). Even though I am still knitting my baby blanket, I have gathered four skeins of potential socks to be and am dreaming of a wonderful sock frenzy cast on.
