Happenings

Good morning! How are you doing these days?

Around here, it's the same old stuff. I pick up the kids at daycare 2-3 times a week depending on the schedule. This week my adult classes start back up after a lovely one week break.

Thankfully we had some much needed rain yesterday and through the night. Also the temperature is reflecting October vibes, finally. I love to be cold. the rain and wind brought down tons of oak leaves! The awning on the back patio was taken down for the season.

Friday afternoon we went to the conservatory to see their fall flower show. I was excited to see my first turtle ever at their pond. Sometimes we see frogs, but never a turtle. He was sunbathing and wasn't thrilled we were walking by him/her. After the conservatory, we were supposed to go out for dinner but I was too tired to do so. We went home instead and had some soup. Yum!

I am nearly done with the second Christmas stocking. I make two for each grandchild. One for their home and one for my home if they are ever here for the holidays. Even though it's only mid-October I am feeling the time crunch to get some holiday shopping and preparing done. I have a list to keep reminding me.

How are you? Are you getting ready for the holidays or is it too early to think about it yet?

  1. I think your stocking is just so festive! This morning's walk required a sweater... it felt so good!

  2. I am very happy to see actual fall weather as well.

We don't do presents anymore so holiday preparations here are more about the meal. We are thinking of doing duck this year.

  3. The red of the stocking is so rich and beautiful.

  4. Funny thing. Last night I was thinking about where to put our Christmas tree this year and what color I want to decorate it in. Last year I did blue. I am leaning towards white for this year.

  5. Your trip to the conservatory sounds wonderful! And a bowl of soup after a day out sounds delightful! Congratulations on the Christmas stocking being almost done. I've done a little planning for the holidays, but not a lot yet. Love your mug! :)

  6. Beautiful photos, and your stocking is lovely! I prefer to prepare early for Christmas...to avoid the rush, the crowds and when you shop early the selection is much better, and the prices are usually less as well.
I love to clean and organize, and this includes preparing early for things, this way I have less stress and more time to enjoy life.
Thank you so much for sharing, I really love your posts.

  7. A fall flower show would be so beautiful. I agree it's time to start thinking about Christmas gifts. I like to do a little at a time so I can be thoughtful and much of what I give needs to be mailed. I was thinking this morning that I should get started.
