Prepare the Way

Prepare the way for some new projects, of course!!  I am so excited to start a few new items and both are for me.  This lovely yarn is Prime Alpaca in sport weight that I bought at the PA Endless Mountain Fiber Festival in 2010, unfortunately due to the heavy flooding this past fall they did not have their booth.

I've decided to make the Gooseberry Cardigan, again.  I wear this cardigan a lot through the winter and I want another one!  Can you believe that I did not document what needle size I used on Ravelry?  Jeez.  So that means I have to do gauge.  Bleh.

I thought you all would love to see my expensive swift, ha ha.  For some reason two chairs back to back works for me and my upper arms get a much needed workout.  Anyways, onto my other lovely bundle of yarn.

This is a skein of Malabrigo Sock in the lettuce colorway.  I am not sure which shawl pattern I am going to start.  I am leaning towards one of the seven shawls by Romi Hill.  I love the decision making process.

Have you any new knitting projects in the horizon?

  1. Morning, Karen!!! Love the choices of colors! and the projects!!! Loops has declared January "selfish knitting month" and I'm right there with them. I just finished up a couple January birthday things--so now I can CO for ME!!! Yeah!

  2. I have to agree with Steph since I cast on a cardigan for ME last night in almost the exact color as your yarn. It's going to be a great knitting year!

  3. I think January is for socks. Actually 2012 should be for socks or shawls. Then I would have a reasonable amount of sock yarn! I hate when I forget to record important info in Ravelry.

  4. I love the colors too (and your ball winder--need to get one of those). Can't wait to see this sweater complete.

  5. I used chairs too when I would warp on for a new project on my loom. By the time I was ready to roll it looked like a spider web in there! It worked though. :)
I'm in love with that lettuce green, such a happy color!

  6. I use my legs and my arms DEFINITELY get a good workout in! That's a really nice sweater and it's going to look gorgeous in that color, wow! I love the lettuce too. Super nice stuff you have there!

  8. Beautiful projects Karen! I love that mentioned the decision making process, thats one of my favorite parts of knitting too. Yesterday I ordered the new book from Loops (of London). I love every pattern in it! Now I just have to decide...

    Have a great day!

  10. Why yes, Karen, I do!

At some point this year (I'm thinking sooner rather than later) I will be knitting myself a lace shawl (using LACEWEIGHT yarn) to wear to my younger sister's wedding.

I would also like to start on one of the numerous sweaters that I have all the yarn for.

  11. New yarn, how exciting! No new projects here, as I really need to finish what I've already started. It's hard to resist, though, so I'll live vicariously through you! The new yarn is gorgeous...I'm loving that green.

  14. Oh, that green Malabrigo is gorgeous. How do you find the Prime Alpaca? My last alpaca experience was so disappointing...beautiful and soft, but now shapeless and pilled....

  15. This green makes me ache, it's so delicious!!

  16. Your wool looks a lot like the cozy alpaca I finished with in my Rae. So soft.

I'm looking forward to seeing your cardigan. You are inspiring! (And that green is breathtaking!)

  17. Why is it that I never think of other ways to wind yarn other than to have a loved one hold the skein for me? ;-) Oh well, gives them a work out! Tee hee.

I'm with Heather.. 2012 is going to be the year of the Sock!
