Wheels are Turning Hat

Isn't Frodo cute?  I love how he stares outside and waits sometimes patiently for me to open that door.  If you haven't noticed before, I am a lover of the color purple.  I have been blasting through the odds and ends of my leftover yarns.  This is the last of it.  I created a warm snug hat to go with my many purple scarves.  This yarn is Malabrigo and other scrap purples striped in the body of the hat.

The brim is a simple folded edge where I knit the cast on edge onto the knitting.  I like the clean look and of course there is minimal thread burying.  At the crown of the hat I was in the mood for something different.  So I decided to decrease like wheel spokes (that word just doesn't look like it's spelled right).  It was a fun design and it went fairly quickly.

Now all we need is some chilly weather.  Oh and would you believe the electricity went off briefly in the middle of the night.  At 2 o'clock in the morning I was resetting the alarm :/  I hear whispers of "buy a house generator" in my ears. I am getting too old for this kind of excitement.

  1. Pretty, pretty, pretty Karen. I am loving purple these days too and want to knit a purple cardigan to wear. I really need more hours in my day to knit.
Since we live in the country and have hurricanes we have a generator, I must tell you
it is a purchase I have never regretted making.
Frodo is adorable and I think he and Twinkie would have a blast.

Was there weather where you are last night? It was very windy here, but not enough to do much more than interfere with the television antenna signal! I hope all your crazy weather is past for the year…xo

  8. It looks great. You can't even tell it is from scrap yarn. It looks like the yarn was just supposed to stripe that way.

  18. great hat!!!! Hi, Frodo!! (Freddy is in the doghouse.....he can't talk right now. He scratched all the paint off the front door and the bathroom door while we were out. Guess he didn't want to be left alone. Hope this isn't the start of something new.)
