Winter Solstice

A happy solstice to all of you!!  Yay it's winter time officially, now if only we could have some flakes to make it look like the season.  Would you believe that we had no power from 4 a.m. until 7:15 a.m.???  I am all flustered up because of it.  I did not drink enough coffee and I am behind in everything on my list.

My son and I are leaving shortly to go pick up my daughter.  My husband will be making some homemade pizza which I am so looking forward to eating for dinner.  The wrapping of presents is nearly done and I haven't even begun to bake.  But it's on that list that I was talking about so it will become reality.  Very soon.  Just not today.

So as I type this post I am once again reminded to be grateful for such simple things.  I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful weekend.  May peace surround you as you approach this holiday and you can celebrate with the ones you love.

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. I've just battled the freezing lashing rain on the school run for the last time this year - now we're all home and cosy and also looking forward to homemade pizza for dinner! This day could not get any better, not only have I won a battle against severe mastitis (waking up this morning feeling human again, at last) also the Mayan calendar wasn't accurate in its apocalyptic prediction, the days are going to get longer from here on in, and it's the SCHOOL HOLIDAYS - HURRAH!

Merry Christmas Karen, I hope you have a relaxing holiday with your family.

  7. Happy solstice to you too. Isn't it great that the world didn't end today ;-)
My day has been frustrating so far but I am going to relax and unwind and get my "jolly" back! Saw that new book by Ann Lamott in your last post and I must get it because I absolutely love her writing and books! I could really use an Ann Lamott read right now so after I make this comment, I am going to Amazon.com and see if I can get that book...a little Christmas gift to myself! Thanks and enjoy your weekend and Christmas.

    1. the older I get the less I sleep soundly. The wind was very loud so I was up a lot and feared the power would go, and it did :)

  9. Happy Solstice! We lost power for about 30 minutes...was barely enough time to dig through the camping gear to find the instant coffee, lol.
