Weekends and Knitting

The weekend was a perfect summer weekend, the heat wave ended and no plans were pressing on anyone's schedule.  Our son came home for rest and relaxation before the last two weeks of his research program.  We all joined in-nothing was accomplished in great magnitude.

-puttered about in my studio-tweaking the organizing
-knit the first sleeve which is still on the needles but nearly oh so nearly to the cuff
-made mac and and cheese from scratch only to give all the leftovers to him to take back
-made two loaves of banana nut bread-again one loaf was donated to the cause
-dinner out, movie night in-we watched Rain Man
-engaged in a bit of daydreaming, trips to maybe take or not

How was your weekend?

  1. Ours sounded a bit like yours Karen, some activity but a lot of pottering. And the day dreaming too, we're making plans for the not too distant future.
    Glad yours was good.

  3. We moms tend to take care of our boys no matter how old they are! I still send leftovers home with my boys and they are 29 and 24! Sounds like a great weekend.

  4. A lovely weekend we had! I enjoy reading your blog and daydreaming about the things I'll do when MY girls are gone...I don't wish them gone now, but it's good to look ahead and think about things I'll do in their absence.

  5. Sounds like a good weekend. We did the same with the cooking. Made lots and sent all the leftovers back with my daughter's boyfriend in the Navy so he can enjoy during the week.

    1. The embellishment is part of the notebook print, made by the notebook people, not me.

  9. Sounds like you had a very nice weekend. We went up to TN to visit "Amish country" for a while on Saturday (bought a few things :-)) and then Sunday it was moving furniture and ripping out carpets. To make up for the hard work, our youngest and I went shopping afterward. ;-)

  15. Spent most of our weekend "on-call" at DD's house. Would she or wouldn't she? She didn't. Doc is hoping she will make 37 weeks, and we are, too. Sleeves, to me, are like a second and third back. Good job on completing also one!

  19. "Nothing was accomplished in great magnitude." I think that should be everyone's summer manifesto! Sounds like a beautiful weekend--those are the ones I love the best, when a few activities are scattered here and there, but mostly it's about good food and relaxing with the people you love the best.
