Heart Beets Shawl Complete

This shawl, the Heart beets shawl, is everything I thought it would be and more.  I love how the simple lace design repeat just pops once the blocking magic occurs.  Each time I block a lace piece, I am mesmerized by its unassuming beauty.

Of course, modeling and photoing this large of a shawl is not for one person, so I needed to stage the shawl.  In my family, my son is the one that has an "eye" for photos, and he isn't available.  So I make do.

Loved knitting this pattern but it is for experienced lace knitters only.  The instructions were brief and all chart reading.  I had to fudge the last of the edging chart, not that anyone could find my creativity.  I choose to finish the edging with a  'k2tog, yo' repeat across the whole length then a few garter stitch rows, and finally a stretchy bind off.

Thank you, dear friend who gifted me the yarn, I loved knitting with your hand dyed wool and now I cannot wait to wear it :)

  9. I got into the habit when my babies were small (two still are) of taking a shawl in the bottom of my bag whenever we went for a day out. I never knew how it would be used - as a spare blanket for lunch, as a make shift changing mat, or to tuck them up in for the journey home. I'll still be doing it this summer, but I can assure you my shawls are not as beautiful and delicate as this one. Just lovely. x

    1. Purl two stitches *slip both onto l needle and purl together, purl one then repeat from* until all stitches are off. It uses quite a bit of yarn but it's fantastic for lace and stretchiness :)

  24. Your shawl is beautiful! I love the color. I always admire your work. I just finished a Downton Abbey Mystery KAL. My husband helped me get it pinned down on the bed yesterday. I enjoyed knitting it but I don't think I will do a KAL again. I keep wanting to knit a hitchhiker scarf but cannot decide on the yarn. I hope to post to my blog again soon.
    Love,
    Marie
