Stonecrop Shawl Complete

Last week I finished the shawl and quickly soaked it in wool wash and fingered it out to block.  I decided against pinning out the shawl because it's cashmere and cashmere is fragile.  I do love how soft the yarn is, but I think aplaca and wool silk blends are just as soft.

The pattern was interesting to knit, there were three main charts, two for the edgings and one main central panel.  I had a time of it remembering where I was on the charts since they do not align.  Kept me on my toes!!

Of course, if I would have used a tool such as a sticky note or a pad of paper then that would have solved my problem, but where is the fun in that??  and life lines??? no way, I like to live on the edge.  Luckily I did not have to unknit much if at all.

I love laceweight shawls to wear because they are light and airy.  This shawl does match the dress I will most likely be wearing to the wedding.  I might be wearing this shawl to the wedding as well.  However, when July rolls around I might change my mind which happens at times because I'm fickle with clothes.

I'd say this is a shawl for an experienced knitter or a very adventurous intermediate knitter.  No written directions for the charts so one must be madly in love with chart reading (I am!).
The directions were clear, concise and I did not find one single mistake, lovely tech editing :)

Ravelry notes are here  Also check out the knit along post over at girls in sheep clothing and a few boys too

  1. It's beautiful Karen and I love the color. I found using two stitch counters helped me determine where I was on which chart and I did use highlighter tape on the main chart. No life line here either, it's fun living dangerously!

  28. Beautiful! Reminds me of the lace my Grandma used to tat.

I use sticky note arrows to keep track of where I am on a chart - works great until the sticky note falls off! LOL.

  29. Sticky notes are good and I do use them. I am not as good as I should be about life lines.
Anyway, that is a stunning shawl. It would be perfect for a wedding.

  31. Mmmm. I think that is destined to become an heirloom piece. I could see it with everything from formal to casual, although it's so lovely, I would have trouble actually using it! As always, your beautiful pieces are an inspiration.

  32. Stunning! Reading charts used to scare me so much, but after a pair of kilt socks for my father in law with six different charts, I feel like I could tackle anything. But no post its or life lines???? You do live on the edge :) Well done, you!
